Poll question: Is it better to air Path to 911 and then fight the lies?
Or not to fight it since our doing so might anger some on the other side?

I've been seeing several different opinions here and am trying to find out how many of us feel which way.

1. I think the lies should be fought - force them to show the PROOF. Clinton
should have dealt with this back when all the books were coming out after 9-11 pointing the finger of blame on him. And there were plenty of them - left unanswered and ignored by Clinton.

2. I think this is largely why they didn't expect him to fight them this time
I can only imagine their shock when they heard from his attorneys.

6. His silence didn't do much good to the Dem candidates in 2002 and 2004 who
were stuck trying to fight the Dems are weak on terror meme the corpmedia was happily using since 9-11 against ALL Democrats.

9. I agree that his silence was an issue for the Dems in both races
However, I also feel that some of those candidates didn't help the situation. I recall thinking how the republicans were beating us upside our collective head with their faux patriotism and it appeared all we kept doing was asking for more.

2002 was simply a disaster for our party.

.
What? Did you think I was too proud to kick my own poll?

So far I'm not seeing the varying opinions I've been seeing on other threads.

3. both the second and the third choice
being proactive is always the best course of action. Us poor Dems always seem to fuck it up.

5. I say we fight ABC/Disney on Path to 9/11 until it airs
We try to get them to pull the propaganda, and we continue to fight the propaganda.
If we fail to get it pulled, we must step up the fight against the propaganda.

11. The point of this will be to spend valuable pre-election time defending
Clinton instead of focusing on GOP crimes.

12. Why defend Clinton?
Seriously, he's a big boy and his attorney's are doing just fine defending his name.

The republicans are once again running on a platform of fear. Why not knock that platform right out from under them?

14. So re-frame it to point out the lies, failings & cover ups
by the BUSH admin and the RepubliCons currently in power. USE the attention and get the FACTS out there.

Don't let them put us on the defensive... attack back with FACTS about BUSH, the neo-Cons and 9-11. Ask "Where's Bin Laden"... ask "Where are those WMD's in Iraq".. ask "Where is that tie between Saddam and Al-Quaida", etc. Let's turn it around and call attention to and educate the public (via word of mouth, the internet, joining in the Google "Bomb", etc) about BushCo's failings and the whole neo-Con anti-American, anti-Constitutional agenda.

13. Once it airs it will be too late to fight the lies
The ignorant mouth breathers will have already had the new "reality" planted in their brains. This movie, if anything, is about destroying Clinton's legacy.

16. Yes it's about destroying Clinton
Edited on Sat Sep-09-06 12:02 PM by seasonedblue
but it's also about trying to rehabilitate bush's lousy performance as prez. right before an important election. That's been the whole point of everything the past few weeks. The movie has been an ace in their pockets, but everything has been timed to deflect criticism of bush and his minions.

That's why we need to continue to fight this. It's already backfired, for instance, I had no idea of the extent of abc's collaboration with the right wing or the IYAM until I read SheWhoMustBeObeyed's post about it. I think so much has been revealed that was meant to stay secret.

I just got my Dell fucking notebook back after two weeks of major repairs, so I've only been able to lurk with a borrowed pc. But reading as an "outsider" was a real eye opener, and DU should be very proud of so many of it's members.

Fight, fight, fight....the push for lawsuits if the damn thing airs.

17. It's more about showing the Democratic Party as weak on terror
I know it's hard for some people around her to get, but even if the last Dem president had not been Bill Clinton the same thing would be taking place right now.

Have you see the number of threads that have degraded to Clinton bashing? Such a shame and such a waste.
