On CNN Late Edition Schumer is a guest along with George Allen.
Wolfie pulled out the GOP trump card about the War on Terror and Rove's srtategy to use 9-11 once again.
Schumer pulled no punches. Said Democrats are just as detrmined to fight the WOT as anyone but that the GOP wants to use it to distract from the reall issues of incompetence, corruption and bad policies of the GOP and Bush administration. He cited a litany that included losing bin laden in Tora Bora, screw ups in Iraq, Katrina and the mess of the GOP Medicare plan as examples.
And finally, he added that if Karl Rove and the administratioin were really concerned about the War on terror, they would be trying to unite the country instead of deliberatly polarizing the issue for political reasons.
He laid it out clearly, dispassionately and strongly, with no equivications or waffling.
THAT's half of the message Democrats need to keep pounding....The other half is what we're going to do to change this frickin mess.

Transcript available anywhere? This sounds like a statement that needs disseminating. I'd never seen Schumer before the Scalito hearings, but he seemed to be a formidable legal mind--able to synthesize and crystallize. SG

5. Schumer is one of the most skilled political speakers I've ever heard. |
|
I would love to put Mario Cuomo and Chuck Shumer at every thanksgiving table in America, and then move elections to the first Tuesday in December. Democrats would never lose.

I love Schumer too. Sometimes there for a while he was kinda making me wonder about him but glad he's hammering out.

what Democrats, liberals, progressives and moderate agree on.
Bush's incompetance and the corruption of the GOP is certainly something we can all agree on.
We can argue among ourselves on the details and spcifics in othr respects, but there's enough of a common agreement on that bsic point that we should be able to get a coherent message out if we at least exercise some discipline and show some Moxie on the things we all agree on.
