I'm wondering (and worried) about Riverbend. Has anybody heard
anything lately? Last blog was August 5.

1. I have emailed her.
I hope she gets a few "electric minutes" to blog a few words for us.

2. It was over a month between her last two posts...
they get farther and farther apart as things there get worse.

I'm worried about her too. :(

3. How weird. I was thinking about her just this morning.
Man, I hope nothing untoward has happened.

4. I've seen her go as long as a month...
before...but that means nothing. Hopefully you'll hear something soon. :hi:

5. I'm hoping maybe her family just decided to get out.
Who knows? She's gone long periods without blogging before. I know I'd be too depressed to post much were I in her situation. There's so many possible reasons for her online silence -- succumbing to depression, no electricity, no internet access, fear of discovery, escaping Iraq...

All we can do is hope that she's safe -- and maybe that someone in the online world would eventually be able to let us know of her fate if something bad has happened to her. :-(

6. I got the feeling that her time in Iraq is nearing its end.
I hope she can get out.

8. I got that impression too, from her last entry.
Good thoughts for Riv.

10. Let's hope she is happy, sitting in a cafe in
Amsterdam, reading a book, drinking tea, eating rolls, and enjoying being with friends and family, safe.

7. Yes...perhaps she and her family finally had enough and went
elsewhere. Hope they're all okay in any case.

9. From her last posts, it seemed to me that her family might very well
decide to leave Iraq. Just reading between the lines, it seemed like they might be close to "having enough".

I cannot imagine what her life has been like these past 3 years. She has given us all such a wonderful, precious gift of herself. Her posts often brought me to tears -- as well as seething anger that such a lovely intelligent soul was being subjected to so much awfulness.

She is like an Anne Frank of Iraq -- but I hope with all my heart that her ultimate fate is a happier one.

11. I'm worried too...
Having read her blog for so long, the more recent ones are chilling. She puts a human face on all the grim statistics we read in the news, and a greater purpose behind my own dissent.
