although I had been reading DU for a long time as a lurker, I have not been a member of the DU for very long now, and have not made that many posts.

I am at this time, saying so-long and keep up the good fight at all costs.
I say this now because right now I can.

Friday I was informed that the back pain I have been having is pancreatic cancer, not a good outlook at this time due to the aggressive nature, and the advanced stage.

I have no regrets, I have little that I have not done that I wanted.

So in short, Keep up the good fight, treat each other well, and as I am able I will still check in and post now and again as long as I am able.

was diagnosed with cancer in three organs and given three months to live...in 2003. She is alive, lives alone and her biggest complaint is her worsening eyesight and arthritis. Somebody earlier mentioned naturopathic medicine as something that might be worth looking into. A naturopathic physician with a degree from a four-year college (not a mail-order diploma) could suggest many things to use in ADDITION to conventional medicine (NOT instead of, of course).

Many medical centers have started to include complementary medicine in their treatment of cancer, to make the medical therapies more effective and/or easier on your body--I would strongly encourage you to consider taking advantage of any such programs if they're in your area. They really can help a lot.

I am asking because my daughter - 19- has been in critical care for the last 2 months because of her pancreas - she has severe pancreatitis.
The surgeon that is now following her has done actual pancreas transplants.
I am in Phx, pm me if you want more info,

Even if you are far from Phoenix, I am sure there are more docs that could do this.

Never never give up! They wrote my daughter off several times, and I just told them
"I'm not giving up on her", and she is now getting better...long road ahead, but she will get through this.

Don't you give up either!

A friend I work with has a husband who also had pacreatitis which then turned into cancer. He was treated by Lance Armstrong's doctor at IU Med Center in Indianapolis and it now cancer free! He was ready to give up while with his first doctor, but after getting a 2nd opinion from this person, everything changed. Hope this is helpful to Eggbeater, and I hope your daughter gets all the care she needs!
