At a peace rally today a young Marine spoke.. |
|
He has been to Afghanistan, and Iraq twice. He said his division was in the first wave of Marines to go to Iraq when the invasion began. Their assignment was to guard the oil fields across the border in Kuwait. Wow, quite an assignment. He said on his first tour of duty the Iraqi people seemed to welcome them somewhat. The second time he went back, they were not welcomed by the people, and the people told him they felt more secure under saddam. I cried as this young man spoke. He said he is now on deck to go back for the third time (he is in the Reserves). He is currently working on his college degree, and does not want to go back. A Vietnam Veteran also spoke, and broke down when he talked about how our administration did everything they could to avoid going to Vietnam. Both of these men were from Veterans for Peace. It was very moving to hear them speak.

Been supporting them for a couple decades. The thought that this young Marine is about to see his THIRD tour of Iraq makes my blood boil. Send the chickenhawks.
Thanks for posting this.
