My (small) kick in the ass to Disney |
|
Today while I was at the thrift stores, I found 10 Disney costumes--various sizes. All were new with tags. I plan on selling them on Ebay as well as giving some of them to small children around here who don't have much money. For every costume, that is about $30 that Disney isn't getting. I plan on scouring the stores for more. Every person that doesn't have to purchase one of these costumes from the Disney line at Walmart or the Disney store...keeps money out of their pockets. Fuck them.

1. Good idea, however, I don't follow your reasoning. If the costumes |
|
are at thrift stores, that means that the salesperson (or sales manager) couldn't sell them as retail in the first place -- and therefore donated them to the thrift store.
I don't know if those persons could then use the charity donation as a deduction in their taxes as "donations of personal property."
But whatever you're doing -- it's for the right reason. Thanks for the post.

These costumes have already been bought and paid for by someone last year. The money Disney got they got last year. Now this year, I will donate some and sell some, and neither Disney or Walmart will make money this year. It is a two-fer. Kids get nice costumes cheap and retailers don't make money on it.

6. So? The money went to charity, not to Disney |
|
unless they'd been donated by a pack rat who didn't realize her kids had long outgrown that stuff. Then Disney got their cut last year, or five years ago, or whatever.
In any case, there was a donation to charity. Every one that is sold or given away means one more kid whose parents won't be buying a new Disney outfit from Walmart this year.

5. What we should do is announce that we will not give candy to |
|
children in Disney costumes. Nasty, but that would stick it to Disney harder and deeper.
