From our street corner: You can always tell when it's a Chief's game day |
|
in K.C.:
There are more than the usual number (1 or 2) of middle- and upper-middle-class cars full of 30-something white males who drive by and shout "patriotic" obscenities at my war-protest group. And you can especially tell if the Chiefs lost, because they're even drunker than usual as evidenced by their roaring incoherent objections to the threat we pose to their way of life.

5. Chiefs fan here too, BUT |

I think there is a pretty strong pattern to the people that flip off and yell at protesters. Most are 30+ white men. It's just that today, most of them were all wearing red as well!
Having said that, I was at the game, not on the street corner.

I'm not really offended, though. Unfortunately, many (not ALL or even most)football 'fans' are pretty simple-minded. For some, it's just an excuse to drink to excess and get rowdy. It goes with the territory, I guess.

10. I did not mean to imply "All". If I did, that was a mistake. |
|
No malice intended.
It just feels bad to know who it is that suffers for this War, while this War has made little or no effect on some people's lives.

7. Are you blaming me for what they did? |

They were Chief's fans. They were rude and ugly. It happens most game weekends.
I guess I'd be offended too if they were members of a group that I belonged to.

9. Patrice, does your group usually protest........ |
|
in the median in the vicinity of 63rd Street & Ward Parkway?..........On second thought, don't answer that.
But if you are a member of the group that protests at that intersection, please know that I honk and wave at you guys whenever I see. Maybe someday I'll get out of my car and join you!
