4. Actually they aren't much better
But Zogby's track record on state-wide races sucks more than Gallup's.

33. Zogby's state numbers suck, but it's the trend that counts
Lamont continues to trend upward, while Lieberman has flatlined.

9. Ned has only STARTED his campaign for the General
We had our first volunteer meeting on Thursday. I was going to phone bank tomorrow, but they understandably don't want to do that the night of 9/11.

Ned has not even really begun to fight yet. My prediction: He wins this in a walk.

39. I was there on Thursday (New Haven) and the turnout was great!
What a crowd of enthusiastic volunteers! I saw some old friends, like Frank Logue, former mayor of New Haven.

I'm phone banking like I did during the primary. I've signed up for this week.

I guess the email story in the NYT finally got cleared up, thanks to Daily Kos. It's awful the way Lieberman twisted that.

10. I think this poll is probably dead right. Think how panicked Joe
Lieberman is to know that his political future and legacy are now within the margin-of-error, possibly heading toward a headline defeat on Nov. 7th.

His future becomes his legacy if he loses, and that margin of error is mercurial. Lamont's numbers have risen, and may continue to rise as Democrats nationally focus on Democrats.

And the devil take the hindmost, and especially Independent hindmosts.

15. Joe's going to start getting really nasty
He's also going to start panicking and making stupid mistakes justl ike he did with the primary. It would be almost painful to watch if I didn't hate Lieberman so much.

20. Yes -- I wonder about Joe's ability to graft current declines onto the
skin of his future aspirations.

He'll claw to hold the seat, but I think fate is going to do him in.

I like Ned Lamont in this one.

35. Lieberman is campaigning like a Republican now.
Very negative, very aggressive. Lieberman's been a Republican all along, as far as I'm concerned- but actually campaigning like one will drive his remaining Democratic supporters away very quickly. I think Lieberman's going to lose, and lose big.

of his!

God damn their souls forever, anyway.

Joe's running on vapors at this point, and his numbers are looking pretty uncomfortable.

I'd love to overhear his internal pollsters' assessment of this race, wouldn't you?

One read of this recent poll is that Joe Lieberman is 3.9% points away from historical oblivion.

On edit: poll before Macaca statement Allen up 10.6 - next poll which I think was taken shortly after the Macaca statement Webb up 1.3 and this lates one Webb up 7.5 - that is at 18.1 change and if it holds George Felix Allen is going to be SO SORRY his momma ever taught him the word MACACA - buh bye President Allen - filthy PIG

38. Yeah but
it only has Casey up by 4 and every other poll I've seen has Casey up by at least 9.
And it has Brown up by 4 and all other polls I've seen have Brown in double digits.
The race that will be fun is RI. Shouls Chafey lose, the pukes are packing up the Klan circus and abandoning laffey to the lions.

37. I found the governors races equally exciting (if not more)
We could have a pick up of 6 Governorships. That'd make it 28 D - 22 R. If we take MN it's 29-21. I'd be pretty damned happy with that.

on Note: I'd hate to lose Iowa.

42. Try To Take Ups And Downs In Stride
I hope that people continue to think things over
carefully as they make their decisions about what to do.
The answers to questions are difficult but thinking them
through will likely bring the best results.
We shouldn't panic or get discouraged too much by changes
in fortune, because that is a consistent fact of life, for
most of us.
I hope people are prepared for the long haul, and will
not let bad news or diffuculty stop them from continuing to
work for progrsss. Most of us have blessings in life that we
can be happy for, and can draw upon sometimes as we work for a
better future. Sure, we hope the Democrats win, but we need
to have the ability to move on win or lose, because the future
is very important, for us and those who will hopefully
continue on as far as possible after us. I urge you not to
let confusion or setbacks stop your effort to strive for a
better present and future. Good Luck.
