Open Letter to Chris Matthews (on Michael Moore's website)

An Open Letter to Chris Matthews
To Chris Matthews:

Yesterday, you compared Osama Bin Laden to Michael Moore. Michael Moore is an American filmmaker. Osama Bin Laden is a terrorist who murdered three thousand Americans. This type of McCarthyite smear has no place in American journalism, let alone on a major TV network.

You owe Michael Moore, and the American public you serve as a journalist, an apology.

Last night on Hardball, Chris Matthews said Osama Bin Laden “sounds like an over-the-top Michael Moore, if not a Michael Moore.”

Tens of thousands of people visited a website — http://openlettertochrismatthews.blogspot.com/ — demanding Matthews apologize to Moore.

During tonight’s show, Matthews didn’t apologize. Instead he claimed that he was misunderstood:

MATTHEWS: Why is he doing it? Why is he trying to track what he picks up in the internet and from the media as the lingo of the left in America, like Moore? Why would he start to talk like Moore? People misunderstood what I said last night. I think he’s getting some advice from people, he’s getting some lingo, some wordage that he hears working in the United States about this thing for war profiteers and he’s jumping on every opportunity. Is that what you are saying Joe?

1. Matthews is such a slimeball
"...he’s getting some lingo, some wordage that he hears working in the United States about this thing for war profiteers and he’s jumping on every opportunity".

Sorry dork. Osama bin Laden talks about the enemies of Islam, the Great Satan, and stuff like that. If you didn't spend so much time reciting White House press briefings, then you would still be a little bit in touch with reality.

2. I know. I wrote an email to MSGOP (doubt it'll help, but needed
to do something). I don't think I can bear to watch his sorry ass anymore. Olbermann is the only one I'll tune into.

4. Tweety smiles at himself as if he knows he's scoring points with *
He's nothing but a right-wing suck-up. Always has been, always will be. He slanders the liberals to keep his job.

Now lets hear MSNBC allow a liberal on the air who equates Bush with Hitler. They wouldn't do so because the implication is too true.

5. He is living in the Matrix
and may not know it.

The news channels are getting more absurd all the time. "bird flu, hurricanes, tsunamis, coal miners, and missing girls" mantra mantra mantra. When the real enemy is our own ignorance.

7. I think people are overreacting
Matthews didn't compare Moore to OBL he compared OBL's rhetoric to Moore's rhetoric, which IS indeed over the top.

10. its a hell of a lot more over the top to compare OBL to Moore
Moore isn't calling on people to murder Americans and Israelis. Moore isn't offering bullshit truces to America. Moore isn't part of some terrorist network.
