His face turned red & he looked like he had to go to the bathroom (Bush) |
|
"His face just started to turn red," said Tyler, now 13 and in seventh grade. "I thought, personally, he had to go to the bathroom."
(snip)
"He looked like he was going to cry," said Natalia Jones-Pinkney, now 12.These two children are describing the President's reaction while he was in their classroom on 9/11/01. http://www.indystar.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20060910/NEWS06/609100422/1012

1. He remembers the Presidential Daily Brief from Aug. 6th of that year |
|
I believe it was titled around these lines: "Bin Laden Determined to Attack Within US"

He's thinking, "Gee, maybe I should have actually read that thing and taken some precautionary action instead of spending half of my Presidency thus far on vacation."

First time I saw that clip in Fahrenheit 9/11, I turned to my friend in the next seat and said "Look at the guilt in his eyes."

However, after having seen the original video, and then seeing Fahrenhiet 911, I must say that Michael Moore didn't do justice to that little episode. Instead of snipping a few seconds and adding his own commentary, he should have just played the whole damn classroom video, and let bu$h's actions speak for themselves.

I've got the movie on VHS. I'm going to look again... maybe tonight before I hit the hay.
Do you know where to get the whole clip? I guess I can check YouTube.

bu$h shows no reaction after hearing whatever it was the Andy Card had to tell him in that 2-second time frame (and I would bet dollars to donuts that it wasn't "The second tower's been hit-- America is under attack"). Card doesn't wait for a reply, and shows no sense of urgency in his mannerisms. And bu$h seems to show no interest in the news that "America is under attack". He just looks around, and wets his lips in a very peculiar manner, casts an odd glance at the teacher, then picks up a book, which is apparently "The Pet Goat", and proceeds to follow the kids as they read the story.

7. You know, I think he got swept up in something... |
|
I got that same impression, along with the sense it was bigger than him and in some ways beyond his control, but he went with it and tried to justify it as best as he could...I think he's actually a bit of a puppet for more poweful entities back in the shadows.

I think he's got a tiny little bit of human in him. But that human part of him is outdone by the part that wants to out-daddy daddy. And daddy is totally evil beyond redemption. Not to mention Mommy.
EDIT: I used "craven" inappropriately. I meant evil.

11. I think everybody's got a little bit of human in 'em. |
|
That's how we understand them. I myself have gotten wrapped up in bad things, and its SOOO hard to fess up and make it better with the people you wronged...But the things I have done are mickey mouse shit compared to what Bush has gotten himself wrapped up in...Its got to be hard for him. Confession would result in execution. But ultimately, execution might be better for him...I think its better to be dead than to be an evil prick.

|
Saw Card walk and whipser in his ear and wham...those eyes of his turned dark, and I thought, he KNEW. And he just sat there and then he was not seen nor heard from the rest of the day. I kept expecting him to address the nation but no...no one.

Don't go looking for any natural human responses from Dumbya=they were never programmed in, not in the DNA, and for sure not in the nurturing from his patrician family.

I've seen the 7 minute long video. He sat there with a look on his face that I've seen hundreds of times.
It's the same look as you see in rehearsal on actors who have forgotten their lines. Actors in rehearsal don't sit there for seven minutes while they try to come up with something. Actors on stage don't forget their lines. Or if they do, they know the scene so well they can improvise and the audience doesn't notice.
Bush didn't have any lines to forget. This was all improv, and he can't improv to save his life.
A real president would have recognized that the children will eventually know what happened and that getting up to deal with an emergency isn't going to traumatize them (as Bush claimed). A real president might have had a moment of shock, but it would be a mere moment. A real president can think fast and react to a changing situation.
But then we know that real presidents also do not go on month-long vacations less than six months into the job.

You'd think he could have used that as an excuse to get out. Kids understand needing to pee.
But, as you've said, he's not good at improv.
