"These people want to kill you" |
|
Has anyone else seen this commercial? It's a horrid piece of scare people to death. Chock full of hate for arabs or anyone who resembles one, images of people armed with rpgs, the wtc, marines fighting in Iraq. I only caught part of it with the sound on, it was played twice on Discovery yesterday evening when I was watching. It comes from a group calling itself progess for america, not too far removed from pnac, they want us scared and docile, well fuck that, I'm tired of scared and docile.

1. Haven't seen it, but we'd better brace ourselves because it's |
|
going to get worst before Nov. 7th. I'm amazed at how willing some are to openly hate, it's not even something they have shame over. It is now acceptable to hate because of race, religion, sexual orientation, you name it. This is who we are after 9/11....and some barely notice.
This is what 6 years under this administration has done. If that fact doesn't sway the vote nothing will.

8. I believe the vote is already swayed.. |
|
Our problem is Protecting the voting machines, making sure EVERY vote gets counted! Have the Dems come up with a strategy to stop the votes from being stolen?
Or are we once again going to have our hopes of a new regime dashed because the election been stolen for yet a third time?

to overwhelm the machines with sheer numbers, we are voting absentee this year for several reasons, but foremost is the paper ballot.

Interestingly, they show the marines fighting in Iraq, so apparently we want to kill them right back. So, which side is the "good guys" again? The Professor

A neocon porn flick.
Not only does the announcer (he's the same guy who does a lot of GOP commercials) say through clenched teeth, "They want...to...KILL...us" but they also manage to blame Clinton. When they brought up the Cole I wanted to scream - how many times will they lie and distort about that event?
It's a disgusting piece of agitprop. The script sounds like Cheney wrote it.

I understand this part of your post "When they brought up the Cole I wanted to scream - how many times will they lie and distort about that event?" As I recall the the Cole was at the end of Clinton's office time, what is the distortion?

Freepers blame Clinton for not responding to the Cole attack, when in fact it did - as you point out - come at the end of his term. Confirmation of who attacked the Cole didn't come from CIA/FBI until weeks before the end of Clinton's term.
Rather than start a war another administration would have to finish, the Clinton administration turned all of the files on the Cole over to the Bush people...who did NOTHING. Yet the right-wing wackos love blaming Clinton for the lack of US response to the Cole attack....when actually it was monkey boy who ignored it. Too interested in attacking Iraq, even back in early 2001.

9. Do You Know What "Inference" & "Connotation" Are? |
|
The insinuation is that "Clinton did nothing". That's the distortion. Did you REALLY need it explained to you? Or did you just embarass yourself by trying to be clever, when the skillset is lacking? The Professor

my opinion, look at history we have been attacked for years long before Clinton. We for a lot of those years did very little to stop the attacks. It was bound to come to ashore I was surprised by the manner in which it came, not that it happened. Perhaps it was because of the last 5 years of my 23 Military career (62 > 85), where I was involved in black world intelligence. So do I put all of the blame on Bush, no, I spread it out over a number of years across both political parties and number of administrations. I am sure you can understand that.

11. This is part of the plan |
|
People are supposed to be so fucking scared of turning out the repiggies in November, that we'll gladly give up every liberty we have just so we won't be killed by an Arab looking person. There are people not fifteen minutes away from me that are more able to kill me, with junk cars, death traps on the road, drunks, they're more likely to roach me out than anyone else, if I'm not scared of them why in the hell would I stereotype a whole group as wanting to kill me? I'm more scared of the babtists than the muslims.

That ad is so over the top that it's almost parody. Yes, it's repulsive on many levels but you wonder if it won't take a place with those Cold War duck and roll videos some day.
My question is --- why are so many outlets airing this crap??? They turn down MoveOn ads, Sheehan's ad, but this gruesome neocon crap is all over the airwaves.

makes one scratch their head doesn't it? One of our local stations, in fact the first one I'd seen it on gave very good coverage to the * protest here last Friday, ten minutes later they were running this, playing both sides I guess.
