Alertnet: 355,000 cutoff from aid in fighting in Darfur

This situation in Darfur is just awful. The leaders of Sudan are not letting UN people in - almost a half a million people are cut off from aid and have been for three months.

I wish we had spent our 300 billion here instead of messing up Iraq.

1. And what would you have had done?
Had a mostly white, mostly Christian army violate several countries' sovereignty by flying over them, in order to invade an oil-bearing Islamic/shari'a-enforcing country inhabited by brown-skinned people in order to violate their sovereignty, overthrow their government, and impose something like western human rights on the Arabs there? After all, US sanctions aren't working.

The Arabs wouldn't welcome us, the Islamists would have a field day (after all, they once harbored UBL before kicking him out). In short order the Fur fractions would be at each others' throats.

The only difference is that maybe the UN would have agreed to take over. Unless their rep and his staff were blown up.

Sorry, it's a lose-lose scenario. Maybe not as much of a horribly lose-lose, but still too unpleasant.

2. First of all end US intelligence cooperation with Sudan
The CIA funnels millions into Sudan, an "ally in the War On Terror." Maybe training mass murderers is not the best strategy.
