No one can say what happened to (9/11) hijackers' car seized in Maine

AUGUSTA -- What happened to the rental car that carried 9/11 hijack leader Mohamed Atta and accomplice Abdulaziz Alomari to their fateful last flight?

The FBI won't say.

The two hijackers abandoned the 2001 Nissan Altima when they flew out of the Portland Jetport to meet up with their cohorts at Boston's Logan Airport.

The four-door sedan quickly became a focus for investigators scrambling for information in the early days after the attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon and the crash of a fourth hijacked airliner in Pennsylvania.

2. Just a guess...
there was some additional evidence in that car that has never been made public, and it, along with the car, was destroyed long ago.

3. Impounded by the Police and then sold to pay the fees
Just like any other car left in such a lot for a long period of time. The FBI and local Police do not want to admit the car has been sold, least someone looks up the car and finds out who is driving it (All you need is the VIN Number and access to your local State police)

4. Anything that will yield evidence seems to have been destroyed
Not a tinfoil hate theory, either. If it is coincidence, or whatever the motive might be, the evidence is gone.

The plane from Flight 77 should be around too, IMO. It could not have "vaporized."

The way the towers came down might make an excuse for the planes being destroyed there, maybe not. WTC 7 coming down is downright suspicious.

Flight 93 should be able to be pieced together like other ground crashes have been.

Flight 77 the same. The pieces of the plane should be somewhere, amenable to study.

6. Related question - why did these hijackers go all the way to Maine
Edited on Mon Sep-11-06 05:49 PM by treestar
and then take a flight from Maine to Boston? Was there some advantage to boarding Flight 11 from another flight?
