Or 'Why do they hate us and our perfectly wonderful country who do nothing but good deeds all around the world?'day! Or 'America is taking a crap on her oversized pity pot' day! Or 'Which country will be next for us to bomb into oblivion out of revenge?'day! Or 'The reason we need a strong leader like George W Bush, who gets the vision thing, to be proclaimed President for Life!' day. Or....

1. That could be a new holiday event |
|
we bomb one random unthreatening country every 9/11, and cook meat.

2. On one hand, I agree with the sentiment in the body of your post |
|
but I think the "Happy 9/11 Day" is making light of the fact that 3000 + innocent people died on this day 5 years ago. The people who died that day were innocent victims of a horrible tragedy. They were people just like you and me. And regardless of who we believe carried out these attacks against us, does not make the firemen/policemen and ordinary citizens who acted on that day, any less of heroes.
Just my humble opinion.

5. At a nation we have thrown a pity party, though, and most of us |
|
were not harmed that day, and I think that's the point.
Other countries are kind that they don't laugh in our faces, considering the things they have suffered that are just as bad, or worse.
"America has been attacked" but without years of occupation - ask the Poles, or the French, or the Russians. And that's just a start.

My husband and I were just discussing what a bunch of wusses Americans are. What about Dresden, London, Hiroshima, Berlin, Baghdad, Beirut, on and on and on. With all the "events" today, you'd think we were the only country that has ever been attacked in the world. We need to get a grip.

3. This is NOT a "happy" day |
|
I don't think it is appropriate to piss on it the way you just did. You are entitled to your opinion, of course, but this is a sad day in our history and frankly, I find it highly offensive to make light of it the way you have.

4. I couldn't disagree more with your title... |
|
While I understand you're not being serious, this is a serious day. I have never been more angry, more saddened, and more ready to defend my country against attack as I was on Tuesday, September 11, 2001. I'm sure that most other DUers feel the same way.
