The "My Pet Goat Seven Minutes" ... were they necessary?
Was he told by Card that a statement was being drafted for him and would be ready soon? Is that why he waited to leave the room? Was he waiting for someone to write some memorable words for him so he wouldn't go off subject and say something that would incriminate him or anyone else? Was he hoping that they would write something that would be quoted whenever the story was to be told in the future? This puppet can't speak unless someone else throws their voice when his mouth moves, and they counted on that up to that point.

Let's face it, we all know that they cringe (and we shake our heads in disbelief) when he goes off script. We have pages and pages of bushisms to prove that.

Just how surprised were they that he seemed to have pulled that off for himself with the "bullhorn moment"?

2. Why didn't the Secret Service just grab his ass and put
him somewhere safe... They did Cheney and he said as much on MTP... Every movie I have ever seen, that's what they are trained to do... Were they all reading My Pet Goat too????

3. Right - remember the story about he and Laura being taken to the
bunker in their jammies? They grabbed his sleeping ass out of bed for that.

15. THE PET GOAT is the title of the book.
THE. Pet. Goat. And Commander Bunnypants sat for 20 (TWENTY) minutes. It was 10 a.m. before his jenky ass fled to Omaha to be "out of harm's way."

4. No. A timely statement was not issued.

I've been watching CNN's web stream of 9/11/01 coverage in real time all day. He was MIA for hours, no statement issued. Even Afghanistan issued a statement for the "Children of America" expressing condolences, read on air by CNN, before anyone knew where Bush was or what was going on.

5. But, didn't he speak to the cameras with the kids from that school
in the background? I seem to remember that. I will have to google it and see if I can find it. I rmember complaining that he had later said he did nothing because he didn't want to scare the kids, but how he didn't worry about scaring the kids when he made the statements about the attacks with the kids from that school in the background before they wisked him away.

8. Not the same thing though -

At some point very soon after, when he left the school, an official statement about the attacks should have been made. We heard nothing from our leader (I use that term with regret) for hours while all hell was breaking loose.

12. He made a statement from the school
http://anderson.ath.cx:8000/911/pics/bookerspeech.jpg

with the kids around him. I have always been angry that he made the excuse that he didn't want to frighten the children, but he did just that by making these statements with these kids behind him.

I am not arguing that an "official statement" that would have comforted the nation should have been made. Not arguing that at all. The point I am trying to make is, his excuse is bogus because he DID make a statement with those kids there, so frightening the nation began with those small children.

But, they knew that he couldn't string two words together and not blow it. So, did they wait even that 20 or so minutes to say something because someone else needed to write the words for him?

Very good time line here http://anderson.ath.cx:8000/911/gen15.html

14. Thanks - great timeline.
I honestly don't know why the hestitation; why he just sat there. Obviously, he can't think for himself. Interesting point from what I read - no one has ever asked Bush about that morning, specifically. WHY?

7. You can relive that moment here and decide

>>> At 9:03 AM on 11 September 2001, the second airplane hit the South Tower of the World Trade Center. President Bush was in Florida, at the Emma T. Booker Elementary School, listening to children read. Chief of Staff Andrew Card came over and whispered in Bush's ear, "A second plane hit the second tower. America is under attack."

What did the Commander in Chief do? Nothing. He sat there. He sat for well over 5 minutes, doing nothing while 3,000 people were dying and the attacks were still in progress.

<snip>

2) At the moment Card told Bush about the second plane, the children weren't reading to Bush. They had finished reading words from an easel and were reaching under their chairs for a book when Card whispered to Bush. Another 30 seconds would elapse before they started reading again. This pause was a perfect time for Bush to politely excuse himself.

9. Bushie
Oh come now; don't be so hard on the guy. Surely, you remember how it was in grade school and junior high. Sometimes you had to sit there stationary for what seemed like hours, just so no one could see your hard-on.

11. They have always wanted the public to suspend belief of the truth
which was that Card spoke to Bush always assuming the dummy would excuse himself and get up off his sorry arse. It never happened so they needed a second board meeting in front of second graders where Bush was told, you need to get up and turn right and then put one foot in front of another until you begin to walk.
