Majority of Alabama voters say invasion of Iraq was 'right thing'
Among white voters, 57 percent said they approved of Bush's handling of Iraq, while 33 percent said they did not. Among black voters, only 4 percent approved, while an overwhelming 84 percent said they did not.

U.S. Rep. Artur Davis, D-Birmingham, said Bush is "very unpopular" among blacks.

55 percent said the United States did the right thing, 35 percent said it should have stayed out and 10 percent said they were not sure.

Look at the white/black divide, the split is amazing.

3. Ava, what is wrong with the people in your state?
I mean, I could be a typical furriner and go into stereotypes, but is there something else?

6. Only a simple majority approve of the war
43% of Alabama residents either don't approve or are undecided. And Bush's approval rating is only 50%:

The survey released Monday found a smaller percentage gave President Bush a favorable rating on his handling of the war, with 49 percent approving and 40 percent disapproving, with the rest unsure.

Among white voters, 57 percent said they approved of Bush's handling of Iraq, while 33 percent said they did not. Among black voters, only 4 percent approved, while an overwhelming 84 percent said they did not.

The News said nearly 60 percent of voters from 35 to 49 years of age approved of Bush's handling of the war, while 45 percent of those over age 65 approved and 45 percent disapproved. More men than women approved, upper-income voters and Republicans were strongly in favor, while lower-income voters and Democrats were strongly opposed, the newspaper said.

But I had to and I didn't like it. It was something about it that turned me off. Now I know why. Redstatitis!

(of course Texas is a red state) :-)

13. They Didn't Ask Me
Nor did they ask my 59 year-old, white, upper-middle income husband. We never voted for Bush, and we were against the war from the time BushCo started talking about it. There are a few of us, they just have to look hard for us.

15. The next time there is a civil war, let those states secede.
In fact, I'm of the mind that the Union itself should be dissolved over irreconcilable differences.

16. Actually I'm in FL
and I really like the climate here and being close to the ocean - so I was thinking instead of letting the south secede - why don't a whole crap load of you Yankees and left minded southerners move down here and keep me company... maybe if there are enough of us we can neutralize their numbers....

Majority in Alabama don't know better.
Why? NBCNNBCBSHoaxNewsNutwork lies 24/7/365.

What these people need is TRUTH. Once they get some, it's over for the Bush Crime Family.

No offense to Alabamians here, but the state gave Bush a high percentage in '04 and now this. It's going to be a long time before they wake up.

You'd be surprised. I hope that Dean and crew will make sure that Presidential candidates swing through the South a bit more. It would be worth their while.

23. "The Man" is keeping them down. Shame is, they don't realize it.
Many rural-ish southern whites (like you don't know this already) are voting for the repukes because they have to disassociate themselves from what is termed "working class". They think they are the lucky lily white children who were given dominion over the earth by gawd. They think they've inherited the prize! Democrats are for black folk.

my apologies if somebody doesn't get this. I'm from the south. I know.

Edited on Mon Sep-11-06 11:05 PM by GreenTea
the same thing.

The fascist despise an educated, informed society...They just want slave workers and soldiers. They need to keep us ignorant and we'll go along with anything & everything they tell us, we'll march off gleefully as good Christian soldiers fighting a religious war against Muslims, so the republicans can steal their resources (oil)...They already own the media - to pound in their lies and keep us uninformed...Next bankrupt and destroy our educational system as well as the progressive teachers & professors.
