I have never been a conspiracy theorist however the 9/11 story is so riddled with holes, inconsistencies, and questions that I have found myself proudly donning a "tin - foil" hat! I fully admit that I don't know what happened on that horrible September morning, 5 years ago but I DO NOT buy the official story in the least.

Georgie knew before he entered the classroom that our nation was under attack. He surrounded himself with children and sat stoic for seven minutes after learning a second plane had crashed into the WTC.
He DID NOT FREAK OUT. he did not cancel his appointment with the kids. he did not scurry away to ACT like the leader of a nation under attack.
How did he and his handlers know he was not in danger?
Never heard one good answer for that.

8. Why is it that people expect 100% perfection from the "official" story... |
|
Edited on Mon Sep-11-06 05:59 PM by Skinner
...but they do not hold the alternative "theories" to nearly such a high standard?
Do I believe that the official story is 100% correct? No. Do I believe that the official story is WAY closer to the truth than the conspiracy theories? Absolutely.
The conspiracy theories don't hold up to scrutiny. They are mostly a lame collection of faith-based wishful thinking.
Wondering about what happened is not qualification for disdain and ridicule. But if someone believes idiotic claims about controlled demolitions or missing airplanes -- then yes, that person is deserving of disdain and ridicule.
Except for the fact that doing so to another member of this website would be a violation of our personal attacks rule. So don't do it.
ON EDIT: This thread is probably going to get moved to the September 11 forum. Just letting everyone know now before you grow too attached to it.

Neither does the Official Theory hold up to scrutiny |
|
...and the biggest single problem with any alternative theory is that too much evidence is missing or unavailable.
In order to come close to a solid hypothesis, researchers must be open to any possibility than can hold logic. This leads to ideas such as missing planes and remote controlled planes, both of which are theoretically possible and also not as yet disproved by anyone, courtesy of the US government's unwillingness to part with information that would support their official theory.
Skinner, I applaud you for allowing the 9/11 forum to exist. I am not trying to convince you to believe anything, just to keep an open mind with all of this.
No one has all the answers, not yet. But I would ask you to hesitate to jump to conclusions about those who pose unusual ideas. Somewhere, in all of the thinking and the sifting of available evidence, is the truth. And a rapidly growing number of people are thinking that the truth is not anywhere close to the official conspiracy theory.

18. I believe that * 's handlers felt that a terrorist attack would lend |
|
legitimacy to a foul-smelling Presidency that was nothing but an undeserved gift from the Supreme Court. I believe they therefore soft-pedaled anti-terrorism efforts, in addition to surrounding * with incompetent cronies. I do not believe they anticipated the scope of the destruction. I believe the Saudis were implicated, either in the funding for the attacks or in the stock manipulation and this was covered up. Where the anthrax fits into this I haven't a clue, although I was convinced at one time that Atta, et al had a hand in that.

20. One quibble: The "official story" is a conspiracy theory. |
|
I have serious misgivings regarding the "missing disclosure" in the official story. I strongly suspect that about 80% of the more whacked-out and totally delusional (no plane hitting Pentagon, for example) is sown and fertilized by disinformation wallowers, either part of some very narrow and very limited psy-op effort or just mentally-tilted folk who get their jollies from "crop circles" and other hoaxes.
I don't think it took very many people (a very few) in key places to quash 'discovery' of this al Qaeda plot. I'm a LIHOP advocate, not because I'm paranoid but because it fits.

Then yes, I buy it lock, stock and barrel. I hear a lot of fantastic stories about how it was an inside job or coordinated by Zionists, and they make me feel like barfing.

So now, weeks later; we trade off the stupid, useless fighting over Lebanon and Israel for 9/11. Now it is the self-professed lihop/mihopers against the self-professed 'believe the sky is blue' crowds.
How easily we're amused here.

14. When it comes to the government, I've been a skeptic since 1963 |
|
People in positions of power must always be considered with a discerning view. They usually have the most to gain by manipulating facts and distorting percieved reality to maintain their status. In other cases, they may just be "useful idiots" who believe manipulated information based on their worldview. I'd rather be ridiculed for questioning an honest person that to believe someone that hasen't proven their integrity and judgment.

Maybe you should get off the computer and watch some cartoons for today because obviously 9-11 is really fucking with your head and that's not healthy.

For one little point...
The WTC towers collapsed from then top down, because of the fires softening the construction. That's the story we were told. The explanation of the floors 'pancaking' has them collapsing, then starting a chain reaction which causes each floor to collapse as it is hit by material from above instantly. They literally fall immediately upon contact with material from upper floors, and there is no moment of inertia where the floor is hit by the material above, then resistance is overcome before it collapses. It's instantaneoussince they collapse at almost free-fall speed. However, the structure of the building, even if it is weakened to the point of breaking, will still have a moment of inertia - in other words, the fact that it remains standing on its own has to be overcome by the energy of the material above hitting it before it collapses. I have not heard an adequate explanation of this in the official explanation.

Hell yeah I do,
I know that only terrorists could have done this with box cutters...... I know that we have the best NORAD defense, and they did everything they could that day with Cheney in charge of that military excercise. I know that bldg 7 came down because the terrorists did it I know that the FBI took that video of the Pentagon crash because well, the film was probably bad I know that those terrorists flying a 767, descending rapidly while flying at almost 600mph were the best trained ever I know that the planes that hit the first tower, hit above the 80th floor, and I know that most of the jet fuel burned on impact, but yes they fell because , well they did because the terrorists did it. I know that Colin Powell was sent to South America to keep him safe, and GW Bush was sent to Florida to also keep him safe, well in advance.
Yes I believe in the official report, why would this administration lie to us?
