Sun Tzu said: "The King is only fond of words, and cannot translate them into deeds.""The general who loses a battle makes but few calculations beforehand. Thus do many calculations lead to victory, and few calculations to defeat: how much more no calculation at all! It is by attention to this point that I can foresee who is likely to win or lose." --Sun Tzu On The Art Of War http://www.kimsoft.com/polwar.htm

Required reading at West Point, I've been told. Pity no one required those neo-con assholes to read it.

They follow Machiavelli very well. They are not really interested in winning a war, or winning a war without fighting one. They are interested in defense contracts, creating enemies, instilling fear, seizing resources, creating debts and implementing tyranny.

4. Which Testament are *you* reading? |

Peace and love is only for the "right kind of people" in the Old Testament. And God's wrath for the rest.
And funnily enough, to a great many of those who call themselves Christian, nothing has changed.
Indeed, a literal reading of ALL of the NT indicates absolutely nothing at all has changed. Either you believe the right brand of bullsh*t or you suffer the consequences unto the end of time.
My take is that, once upon a time there really was a bloke called Jesus, who was the son of Joseph and Mary. And that the (paraphrased) message he had was: "The only path to salvation, is to do the right thing by your fellow man." No more. No less.
(Appologies in advance for shouting.)
THE ONLY WAY ANY TRULY HONEST (and that includes with oneself) MAN CAN LIVE WITH HIMSELF, IS TO "DO UNTO OTHERS AS YOU WOULD HAVE THEM DO UNTO YOU."
Every clarrification/interpretation (including the words of MML&J) is born of the realisation that if one does not somehow put oneself between Jesus and the common man, then you can forget about raking in the shekels.
(edit: incorrect word tense ('s' should not be next to 'd'))
