NORAD exercise over DC tonight
www.nbc4.com/news/6279020/detail.html

WASHINGTON -- If you hear or see low-flying fighter jets this weekend, don't be alarmed.

The North American Aerospace Defense command, or NORAD, plans to conduct a training exercise late Sunday and early Monday morning.

Multiple Cessna aircraft, two Lear jets, F-16 fighter jets and a Blackhawk helicopter will fly at low altitudes along the Potomac River and around D.C. The exercises are done to ensure a quick response in case of an emergency.

NORAD has conducted these exercises throughout the United States and Canada since the terrorist attacks on Sept. 11, 2001.

7. Has hearing about these exercises got you a little more anxious or
do you just look at it as a coincidence, I mean, they have had exercises over the years and before the year of 2001, but that is what we were told as far as their slow response on 9/11.

This won't be your first time flying, will it?

8. No no no, I am just a little concerned that airline schedules around
the country could suffer a ripple effect if filghts are temporarily grounded, delayed, diverted etc.

I have a tight connection at O'Hare.

10. No delays planned...
(well, except for things like volume and weather...the headwind going to O'Hare is going to hurt you, though - upper level winds have been a bear this past week)

4. Weren't they doing that on 9/11 and that "supposedly" kept the
Air Force further away and could not get there in time? They were going through some type of strategic exercises?

We get threatened verbally, and our military is starting some type of exercises as if we had gotten attacked?

Ironic!

5. They do this frequently in DC.
I live right in their flightpath.

Yes, they're aware of the Saudi and Pakistani Air Force attaches who piggybacked onto the Guardian exercises.

9. Alarmed
Let's see, fighter jets under the command of the boy emperor are flying low over the homes of known Democrats. Now, why is it that I shouldn't be alarmed?
