Montgomery Co., MD polls in chaos - electronic voting machines not
Edited on Tue Sep-12-06 08:50 AM by leveymg
working - electronic access cards not sent to polling places. Also, problems with voters turned away for lack of federally-specified IDs.

UPDATED - Numbers of voters have been turned away, But, in some polling places, voters are being given absentee ballots - some service being restored

This may have thrown the results of the Democratic Senate primary race in MD into doubt.

Thank you GOP Congress for those wonderful electronic voting machines you mandated!

1. Problems as well in Prince George's
As reported on the DC local news today. I believe the issue was not enough ballots.

3. In DC, I had a choice between pencil & electronic ballot.
I chose pencil. So did everyone else.

5. Same here.
Although they just automatically gave me a pencil ballot and never actually asked which I'd prefer. Being caffeine-free, I just moved along where they told me to.

:hi:

13. Over in Glover Park
Ward 3. Until October 1, that is, when Mr. Laurel and I will officially be residents of Maine. (He's up there now, but I need to stay employed for as long as possible.)

9. Diebold machines flaky in Frederick County, MD . . .
Edited on Tue Sep-12-06 08:20 AM by MrModerate
Election workers desperately flipping through their 300-plus-page manuals trying to figure out how to operate the balky equipment. They ultimately figured it out (it took 5 of them and I was the only voter in the room). God knows what will happen when they have 20 or 100 voters in line.

However, I wouldn't want anyone to think that certain 'Lican strategists see an "advantage" in there being uncertainty about the Cardin-Mfume race.

14. Done - updated. Still problems, as of a few minutes ago.
I'm sure they'll get this straightened out - most people will just go back later in the day.

19. UPDATE - Montg. Co. voters might want to go to the polls later today.
This seems to be the sort of problem that will be cleared up.

Thanks blm - very good point.
