If Bush wasn't unpopular, Olbermann wouldn't be permitted |
|
This is MSNBC hedging their bets. They've got a bunch of RW pundits, but they let Keith hammer Bush as a kind of insurance policy. It's analagous to a corporation donating tons of money to Republicans, but some money to Democrats as well.
That said: Keith f*cking rules.

1. Right. But if BushCo hadn't screwed up as badly as they have, he |
|
wouldn't be so unpopular.
I like Keith's chances in that match-up, both in the legal arena and the PR arena.
I'm angry that MSNBC just fired Eric Alterman ("What Liberal Media" indeed!) so I hope KO prevails and thrives for a long time.
He's a damned refreshing soul.

MSNBC is trying to hedge.
What I don't get is why one of the networks doesn't just go to the opposite of Fox. 60% or more of Americans oppose the administration on almost every major policy point from the environment, to terror, to Iraq, to health, taxes, you name it.
There isn't a margin to be made in appealing to a completely unrepresented near super-majority of the world's wealthiest consumer market?
I don't get it. Greed usually wins doesn't it? I mean, what is a boy to believe in if he can't believe in the almighty power of greed? of a 60% marketshare monopoly, in essence?

The right organizes much more than the left. The right is more likely to watch slanted news en masse, and they're far more likely to attack anything that they don't like using boycotts and the like. The right is also pretty monolithic, and they move in lockstep, whereas the left has a lot of little sub-groups who would want to have special attention to their causes.

5. Keith has been in this fight from the start. |
|
He was the only one reporting 2004 stolen election in Ohio. He is a ray of hope in this stink-hole. (comment may be a bit strong but I have been pushed over the edge!) Peace, KIm

6. it's all about selling soap, and it always has been; |
|
remember that approx. 33% of the U.S. like G-dub, 33% are "ify", and 33% against. That makes selling your soap a tricky business. I think we need to realize this because the 33% pro are very vocal. Get your bumper stickers and yard signs going and don't be afraid to stand up to the bullies at the water cooler. That being said, K.O.'s commentary was eloquent to say the least and said what I was feeling. How have we gone so wrong in 5 yrs?

8. Huh? Keith Is Just Being Keith. Since He's One Of Their Best. They Let |
|
him be Keith. I don't think the concept goes much deeper than that to be honest with ya.

9. As I recall Keith brought a lot of baggage to this job. |
|
The good kind.
He didn't want to do another "news" show where he wanted to cover Bin Laden, but was forced to talk about Lewinsky.
I suspect there's something interesting in his contract. Something that Phil Donahue didn't have.
