Guess what? - We will never be "safe" again |
|
Edited on Tue Sep-12-06 06:33 PM by Phoebe Loosinhouse
Because it is a scary dangerous world and we cannot protect against every threat. You might as well put your children in helmets and padded clothing and drive behind them for the rest of their lives - strangely, somehow, somewhere, a mad dog will come from nowhere and attack them. The helmets and your surveillance were for naught. You did not plan for the mad dog. The helmets and padding and your surveillance gave your kids a weird, disconnected, cosseted life and a sense of security, but ultimately, it did not protect them from a mad dog attack.
This is the best analogy I can come up with for our constant demands to be made "safe" and "secure". These states will never happen and we are sacrificing the quality of our lives in this fruitless search.

1. Fear and slavery are the natural states |
|
of people on this mortal coil, but our "higher" selves work to overcome this.
Liberals promote fairness, seek to rein in greedy marketers, advocate sharing of resources, etc.
But fear is always more powerful, and the RW has learned how, mostly with the use of TV, to make it non-stop and permanent.

2. Well, with these power tripping war mongers in charge, that's a given. |
|
They need us not too be safe, ever. Or at the very least, they need us to believe that. It works well for the PNACers. They can only rule by fear.

4. We never were "safe..." Life is inherently risky... |
|
One can act to reduce, but never eliminate risk...
Perspective is what is needed...

6. I always believed it was only a matter of time anyway. |
|
It was so widespread on a world-wide basis, the odds were against us NOT getting hit.

I will not let them intemidate me, I will stand face to face with them and not even break a sweat. When you show you fear them then their terrorizing has done its job, you can not let them think they have power over you, ever.

(I was channel flipping so I don't recall which channel) One of them did a 'study' which showed that 90% of Americans believe in a 'higher power' and that people tend to turn to religion more in times of crisis and fear.
So, what better way to make sure the BFEE Fundies get and keep control over the branches of gubmint than to keep preaching Terra ! Terra ! Terra ! with a side order of Armageddon?
