Should someone in D.C. deliver a copy of Will Pitt's memo... |
|
Edited on Sun Jan-22-06 08:59 PM by DeepModem Mom
(urging a SOTU walk-out) to every Congressional Dem's office, asking that it be brought to the personal attention of the Senator or Congressperson, explaining Will's work (in case they're unaware!)? Maybe print it out as it appears on the website. IMO, this wake-up-call letter is important, even if it does not result in a walk-out.
On edit, maybe Will should then read it from the Capitol steps!

1. I'd be all for that; I really, really want our supposed |
|
representatives to read it and get a sense how we feel out here.

10. the Dem response would undoubtedly be that a walkout would be . . . |
|
"disrespectful of the presidency" . . . bank on it . . .

I had previously suggested that in lieu of a walkout that the Dems wear duct tape on their mouths during SOTU as a symbol of being silences and shut-out
here's another suggestion: When the repugs leap to their feet in applause, every Dem (from a seating position) should wave dollar bills
meanwhile - during House/Senate sessions - a large bucket should be placed at the podiums - when a Dem gets up to speak, he/she should drop a dollar into the bucket thereby granting them access to the microphone.

16. they know that even if they walk out |
|
It will soon be forgotten. They'll still get called "cowards" by certain people. They know the namecalling is not related to what they do, it's more about the namecaller, which they can't do anything about.
