The world now thinks the US is a ridiculous and "silly" country

Any respect the US had in the world 5 years ago of any kind (including GRUDGING respect that a lot of countries had) is GONE.

We're considered a country of silly, frightened, bedwetting rubes and no one can argue they don't have a point.

I can confirm this entirely. I think the phrase "stupid American" is becoming part of the common vernacular here. Though to DU's credit, the populace here is generally about as far removed from the "norm" as you can get.
