Also, is it really his "to hang?" I don't remember the ceremony, but wonder was Bush accepting this portrait on behalf of the American people? If so, then he should have said, "I accept this portrait on behalf of the American people..." But if it wasn't his "to hang," then that would make the statement even more inflammatory.

in Texas. He's guilty first of recycling bad jokes, and doubly so for using such a joke in this context. I'm sure in his mind he thought it would get him the same guffaws he got in Austin in '99. I doubt he thought it through any further than that, however, as I don't believe him capable of empathetic responses.

I remember him doing this a couple of years ago. Did he repeat his insensitivity, or is can-o-fun a little late posting the clip?

Dubya is at a ceremony where he is being given a portrait of Martin Luther King. It's unveiled, condi and a few other African American bigwigs are there, and an audience. He goes up to the microphone, says a canned thank you for this great picture, and then says "(I) Can't wait to hang it." And pauses.

If I didn't know this guy was as oblivious as he is, I would definitely think it was on purpose.
