1. No. It is not lie with immunity

They may believe that, but they will find out soon enough that it isn't true.

On the other hand, is Abramoff accused of making illegal contributions to President Bush? If not than this is embarressing, but not relevent.

There are three kinds of politicians - those that took no money from Abramoff, those that took legal contributions from Abramoff, and those that took illegal contributions from Abramoff. only those in the third category are really important, and they are all Republicans.

Republicans want to blur the lines between these categories.

3. It makes you wonder what Abramoff said (to Prosecutors) to scare them so.

Also it might imply they know what Abramoff told the Prosecutor or they have been told of there is an interest in possible charges. To publicly expunge photographs is an act of desperation.
