Dare I have hope? Is the tide finally turning?
Last night as I was preparing dinner, which, by the way, was delicious, I had NBC news on to listen to the local news. Well, it sequed into the NBC nightly news and there was a segment on the mining disaster that recently claimed the life of two men.

The discussion focused on the union's fight to have certain airways regulated in such a way so as not to fan flames, (not exactly sure of the details, so bear with me). No less than twice, the reporter said the Bush Administration had allowed this lapse in safety with its relaxation of the rules concerning mine workers.

It seems to me that had this happened a year ago, the reporter would have said 'in recent years' as opposed to 'the Bush Administration'.

It did give me some hope. Maybe the MSM is finally opening its eyes a bit.

There is NO WAY any decent reporter can say that this is anything BUT a Bush administration screw-up.

In fact, most reporting at the time clearly states that it is a "rollback of Clinton-era regulations".

3. The network news I saw also stated fewer inspectors under Bush Adm
They stated as a fact that Bush Adm has cut the number of inspectors and had a former mine inspector (who worked in mines when Clinton was Pres) on camera who talked about how oversight has declined during Bush Admin.

4. No, don't bother.
Hope is dead.

Hope and Opportunity had a murder/suicide thing a few years back. It was in all the papers.

5. Hate to be a kill joy but I agree.
I had my hopes beaten, kicked, and drowned with the Downing Street Memo's. :(
