The photos are expected to surface in tabloid magazines very soon
Jack & George Went Up the Hill

Senior White House aides have downplayed Jack Abramoff's relationship with President Bush for months. Scott McClellan has said, "The President does not know him, nor does the President recall ever meeting him." Since the Republican campaign of disassociation, six pictures of Abramoff and Bush surfaced. One of the photos depicts Bush shaking hands with Abramoff in front of a window and a blue drape. The other photos are of Bush, Abramoff and his children. A sixth picture shows several Abramoff children with Bush and House Speaker Dennis Hastert. The photos are expected to surface in tabloid magazines very soon.

1. Photoshopped?
I'm a little leary of what shows up in the tabloids.

4. But you know they must exist.
Abramoff used to charge clients big bucks to meet w/George Bush.

5. Not likely...
And not too hard to spot a photoshop project. You can't match every single pixel when you merge images together.

6. Tabloid publication will definitely hurt the credibility of the photos
Edited on Mon Jan-23-06 10:52 AM by rocknation
But maybe the source had no other choice. If the Bush White House has warned the "legitmate" press not to publish them, the tabloids may have been the only ones making an offer.

7. Big Bucks
I think it's more likely that the tabloids pay better than Time or The Washingtonian. Probably a LOT better.

8. The news media actually doesn't pay at
all for stories. Isn't that right?

9. I have no doubt that the tabloids pay a lot more
but when you deal with them, you pay a big price of your own--in credibility. The tabloids have that built-in taint of reasonable doubt: the story would be in the "legitimate" press if it were "really" true. Which might be what the Bush empire is counting on.
