Where can I go to find out if this is correct?
I met a person who had worked at one of the Disney theme parks, who told me that he quit because he found out the fried turkey drumsticks they were selling were stuffed with ham, and he didn't feel right selling these forbidden products to Jews and Muslims. Anyone else heard of this before?

1. What I could find.... and it sounds like this may be true to
a degree but nothing definitive here..... sorry.

Once inside we grabbed a nice commemorative mickey mouse cup filled with soda and dumped half of it out in the toilet and started our day off proper. Let me tell you, the Swiss Family Robinson tree house actually appears to be interesting when you can hardly climb the stairs. We toasted with the Pirates of the Caribbean and went on Space & Splash Mountain but mostly just dicked around the park taking pictures and doing lolz. I have to say, the most disgusting yet delicious part of the day was giant turkey leg we got in Frontierland. There is no way in HELL these things are made out of turkey. Years ago my friend Bill told me the turkey legs were actually emu and I actually believe him. The meat had the taste, color, and consistency of ham. HAM WING. We couldn't put the thing down though...nasty. The other disgusting highlight was when we were taking pictures of these cute little birds and one of them took a giant dump on Cassandra's arm. I wish I got a picture of it because it looked like someone busted a nut all over her. It was pretty sweet.

2. I would think that the
USDA, health inspectors, etc would not allow this. Besides the labor involved in doing this would be costly, and what would the reason be? I don't see this as a cost saving for Disney.

4. my source said
that the reason given him was that it was cheaper to get it made of ham, and that the supplier had some sort of sweetheart deal with Disney.

7. So the whole thing was ham, not
stuffed into a turkey drumstick? Yuck! Luckily I don't eat dark meat, so I would have never had a turkey drumstick at Disney. Someone that deals with their food needs to find a box label.

3. BTW, most Jews in the US do not keep kosher. The ones that do are very
careful about the restaurants they frequent — and all the food in those have to be certified kosher.

5. Thank you for this information
I avoid pork products because of my faith, but would never be able to eat if I had to try and find a place that served halal around here! Anyway, my source isn't Jewish, but felt bad that he might be causing someone to break kosher laws that didn't want to. I'll let him know your information, as it may give him some comfort.

9. Here in NYC, we have halal food carts on the street during lunch hours

and they're some of the best (and most successful) in the city. I don't think your friend needs to feel really guilty. The orthodox Jews who do keep kosher are VERY careful about eating away from home.

10. Find someone going to one of the parks and buy one...
Then take it to a food lab for testing. That should prove it one way or the other.

11. The new truth in labeling for foodstuffs might affect how this product
is advertised and marketed in the near future.

12. How could you disguise ham stuffing?
Were the turkey legs really fried? I've had ROAST turkey legs at festivals--but they were just turkey. Sinews & all.

Smoked turkey legs could, indeed, TASTE like ham. But that would just be the effect of smoking a non-white meat.
