Televised debate on Meet the Press of the Virginia Senate Candidates. Go here to find out when it views in your area.

Virginia was supposed to be a shoo-in for Allen, but now he is struggling and Webb has taken the lead, according to some polls.

Edited on Sun Sep-17-06 09:44 AM by FULL_METAL_HAT
With opponents like Allen, Webb is hopefully a shoe-in! Crooks and Liars has the video (as always! :))

Colbert Report: Senator Allen and His Ethnic Friends
By: John Amato @ 6:05 AM - PDT

Colbert reports on Senator George Allen’s ethnic rally held on Wednesday. After his "macaca" comment, Allen is scrambling quickly to prove he’s not a racist.

Yeaaaa…. you might want to get rid of those Confederate flags first, Senator.

5. Timmy actually holding Allen's feet to fire?! WTF?
Edited on Sun Sep-17-06 08:59 AM by FULL_METAL_HAT
Wow, it is so nice to see our 'presstitutes' getting their balls back...

Comparing today's Timmy to even a year ago (pre-katrina to really show it), is like remembering how the now "stern daddy" used to be take such pleasure in entertaining the kids in his clown suit with balloons and whistles...

Allen is an asshat who shouldn't be in any position of power.

Timmy: "simple question: in your mind could the $300 Billion spent on Iraq be better spent?"

Allen: "I'd like more syrup on my waffles please..." ;)

You can't trust Republicans with your money these days...

BAH!

69. Didn't know until when? He sure is a slow learner.
I think he would still be flying it if it weren't for the fact that he wants to go national and it doesn't play well in Peoria.

I am FROM Virginia, the flag IS a part of MY family history, and I knew that it had become a symbol of hatred and bigotry and I wanted NO PART OF IT long before Allen walked into Virginia waving it.

It looks like he adopted it about the time I rejected it, way back in the 1960's, around the time of the Civil Rights movement. Some of us evolved. Some people regressed.

There is NO WAY that I would ever vote for felix the brat. Webb seemed calm and comfortable. I hope the large $$ advantage of felix doesn't decide this election but I continue to see the ads again and again.

If things go very well Democrats take the House and Webb wins, hopefully giving a Senate majority. That seems like to a huge change, with bushco primed to scare the hell out of everyone until election day, oil cos. lowering gas prices and just the numbers for the Senate. Worst case is the repubs still control both Houses of Congress but, after 2000 and 2004, not impossible, I fear.

Viet Nam was a mess.
As much good as Johnson did on domestic issues, he really did screw up by escalating and micro managing that war.

A lot of 'Nam vets felt that way. Only Webb is smart enough not to stay on the dark side.

71. Tim did well with our candidates for Governor last year, too.
He exposed Kilgore to be all talking points and no substance.

He asked Kilgore a question about abortion. Kilgore said he couldn't answer that question because it was a hypothetical question. Then Tim asked Kilgore a hypothetical question about taxes. Kilgore answered it. Tim said, "That was also a hypothetical question." Kilgore continued with his talking points on taxes. Kilgore still didn't get it.

Kilgore lost to Tim Kaine last year.

53. Webb on Geneva conventions
Reminds us that the Vietnamese called prisoners of war "war criminals" hence the Geneva conventions didn't apply.

I have to believe Americans would see this and side with Webb.

56. Webb on Affirmative action
Made a strong case for affirmative action programs, pointing out that there was state sponsored discrimination for generations.

Pretty moving statement actually.

I'm watching right now and I am very impressed. When talking about permanent military bases in Iraq Webb said that as long as there is an American presence in Iraq there will be no peace. Very strong against no permanent bases in Iraq.

Jim Webb, :applause:
