McGreevy lover claims McGreevy sexually assaulted him
http://www.nydailynews.com/front/story/453304p-381399c.html

Former New Jersey Gov. Jim McGreevey sexually harassed and assaulted Golan Cipel during his tenure as the state's homeland security chief, the former Israeli Army officer told the Daily News yesterday.

Cipel relayed quite a different reality from the one McGreevey recounts in his new book, "The Confession," in which he describes their alleged sexual affair and writes that he "first kissed" Cipel in his house while his wife Dina lay in the hospital after delivering their baby.

"I wasn't his lover," Cipel, 37, said. "I didn't have sex with him. I never heard anything from him saying that he loved me. The only things that happened were sexual harassments. And unwanted sexual advances and assaults."

Cipel, an intelligent, tough, ex-army lieutenant who's spoken to The News over a period of months, recalled that night in 2001.

1. Golly! And JUST as his new book is out! That MUST be a coicidence.
I don't necessarily want to downplay this...but, if this happened, why did he wait until now to talk about it?

3. My guess - he always was a GOP plant - a neocon plant.
And I doubt he's the only one out there.

4. In fairness he did sue before
but dropped the suit. It was his lawsuit which forced McGreevey out of the closet.

7. The timing is suspicious as hell.
Hell, I don't know what went on between them. But the timing of this allegation is damned suspicious.

I guess I'm just overtly cynical here.

8. He originally sued back in 2004 when it forced McGreevey out
It was that lawsuit that McGreevey called blackmail and was indeed dropped. I have no idea where the truth lies here but in fairness he went forward long before now.

6. This will hurt Menendez against Kean Jr.
It will reinforce the idea of a culture of corruption among state Democrats.

5. 'sexual harassments. And unwanted sexual advances and assaults.'
Edited on Sun Sep-17-06 04:27 PM by Bluebear
Gee, that sounds strangely clinical and legalistic, Golan.

disclaimer: I have no idea what went on between them either. The verbage 'unwanted advances' doesn't sound like it is from the heart of a sexually assualted Israeli, rather a lawyer. Or right wing adviser.

11. And Cipel is more credible than McGreevey because...?
Edited on Sun Sep-17-06 05:22 PM by rocknation
If memory serves me correctly, Cippy, you claimed you weren't even gay before McGreevey, which three men came forward and denied. You also hired a lawyer to negotiate a financial settlement with McGreevey, then you suddenly left the country! So knock if off with the "damsel in distress" routine--you aren't the helpless type.

12. exactly - Cippy fled the country vowing to return for "justice" but right
after the FBI paid a visit to look into the blackmail claim, suddenly Cippy decided to drop the "lawsuit"

13. cipel "had" to do this or lose the family money
His family was horrified at the discovery that he was gay, and threatened to disown him, so he switched his story COMPLETELY.

14. Cipel was also rumored to be an undercover Mossad agent
Edited on Sun Sep-17-06 06:45 PM by rocknation
whose specialty was being a homosexual "honey trap" for political blackmail victims. Nothing would have made the GOP happier than to replace McGreevey with a Repug via a special election. But McGreevey immediately claimed that his relationship with Cipel was consensual, and followed it with the announcement that he wouldn't leave until after it was too late to have the election. Which I figured was the least he can do.

15. They needed to take out McGreevey
so he wouldn't ask any questions about 9/11. As governor of NJ, he and Pataki shared equal control of the Port Authority, which owns and runs the WTC.

Notice that Pataki (R) took of care of all the "rebuilding" details and Rudy (R) took care of the "cleanup," LOL.

McGreevey is an idiot for letting himself be set up like that, but it most certainly was a set-up.

17. He wasn't governor on 9/11
he got elected in November of that year and assumed power on Jan 1, 2002.

19. NJ owns half the WTC
and the "rebuilding" boondoggle is in progress, and still controlled by Pataki.

Don't forget that it was quite a contentious affair for the first couple of years, and still is in NJ.
