Poppy was out of touch but he at least served in the military and worked his way up the political ladder. Shrub couldn't even hold a job until he was Governor of Texas.

I went and switched the channel to C-SPAN so my kid could hear it while surfing the web. Just about the time that Ms. Richards began to speak about Wimpy, child o' mine said:

"Who is that?"

I told her "For one brief, shining moment, that was our Governor."

"Wow." replied my baby.

"Yeah" said I, choking back the tears.
