Scary Ohio Rep Jeanne Schmidt screaming at Anti-Abortion Rally in DC
Edited on Mon Jan-23-06 12:34 PM by KoKo01
She's out there shouting about the dark day when abortion was declared Legal at what looks like some big rally. It was on CNN she sounds deranged...She said her parents said the decision "wasn't worth a pound of salt!" :eyes: Like that was supposed to be a profound statement about their anti-abortion views.

I turned it off...but thought I would alert you all.

8. What do average Ohioans think about this?
I ask because I know average Kansans (Republicans included) hate the whack-o religious right takeover of their government. There has to be a backlash, even if Diebold makes sure the "official results" are skewed.

The last precincts to be counted (after the humidity issue) were KNOWN to be Schmidt's power base. I don't find it surprising that they put her over the top.

36. Every state is different. If you presume uniformity, you're over simplify
...ing.

First of all, the fact that Republicans don't win every every race where Diebold is involved in no way proves a lack of election fraud. That dog won't hunt. People might notice.

Second, there are some people who really, really matter, like Bush. Diebold delivered.

Third, it's not just Diebold, voting machines are accessible through a number of means. Our votes go in, the vendors capture, manipulate, and report them (non of which we see, none of which we're allowed to examine). We have out sourced our elections.

Too simple, find another excuse to legitimize Bush and Co.

40. My point is that we cry fraud whenever we lose...
...even in races we KNOW we're going to lose. I think it weakens the argument that real fraud may exist at times.

43. No we don't. I don't see that happening at all. I don't do that.
Why generalize so broadly, it dilutes the point.

We don't have to prove fraud.

Elected officials OF ALL PARTIES have to prove that they were really elected (fair elections, processes open to public examination, ballots there to count).

If they can't do that, THEY ARE NOT LEGITIMATE.

It's far broader than one vendor or even technical reliability, it goes to this: can our elected officials prove legitimacy. Right now they cannot.

44. I disagree.
A voting system has been put in place. If we disagree with either the system or the results we have to prove why the system should be changed. Asking a candidate to "prove that they were really elected" is like asking somebody to prove they're innocent. It is our job to prove guilt...

...and I think people listen less when we scream "fraud" every time we lose an election...

48. Wrong...."The election system must be above suspicion..."
The ruler rule based on legitimacy. Legitimacy is based on election. The election process is run by the rulers but it is of and for the people, hence the conflict and suspicion. The election system must be above suspicion, therefor it must be open, transparent, and subject to thorough examination. If it's not, then the rulers lose legitimacy.

50. The majority believe in the legitimacy of the system.
Therefore, the elected have legitimacy. There will always be some who question the legitimacy of elections regardless of the process used. If the majority consider the process to be legitimate, then it's so.

That's why it's a dissenter's responsibility to prove otherwise.

When the Dem is barely ahead and Claremont County has yet to be counted, you can pretty much assume that the Repub will come out on top. Humidity or no, Hackett didn't stand a chance in Claremont County.

And not just in her mental capacity. Two established repubs in the district, Tom McEwen
and maybe Tom Brinkman, will run against her in the May primary. I don't know much
about McEwen, but Brinkman is a very right-wing case, playing to the no-choice crowd,
a real neanderthal. Experienced and reasonably charming, both have a degree of popular
support among the numbnutz crowd. Both could probably beat schmidt alone but could
split their support if they both run. In any case, it'll be nasty...fun to watch from the left sidelines.
Now if only we can marginalize "Kenny Boy" Blacksoul for guv'nor...
Bitsch-midt has a twin sister; can you imagine the damage done to the gene puddle?
And I am one of the several hundred thousands of non-troglodytes around here. Good term

Sometimes those who protest the loudest.........

Would there be a way of finding out? My Congresswoman in Idaho, Helen Chenoweth, was one of the loudest of the moral police condemning Bill and Monica for adultery and lack of morals.

It turned out that she had an adulterious affair in her past that was exposed. It was enough to make her retire from Congress.

I think if we want to send these freeper politicians into early retirement, we are going to have to start publicizing their hypocrisies.

Oh, as for Helen, she married a white supremist and moved with him to his compound in the Nevada wilderness.
