bush wants to sell America's Soul to the Devil
Edited on Sun Sep-17-06 10:40 PM by berni_mccoy
It's simple: bush wants to torture people. If Congress supports him and passes legislation that will allow his administration to torture, then Congress will have sold America's soul to Satan. And it won't even be for safety. It's so bush can cover his own ass.

Nothing is gained from torturing people. We lose our reputation. Those we capture will know what we are about and will resist. If you knew you were going to be tortured and and likely killed, would you resist? Would you rather die than have someone try to drown you, sodomize you or hook you up to electrodes? Would you surrender? My guess is no, you would fight and resist with everything you had. And if so, what do you expect our enemies to do? And what about the people who know they are our enemies? Would you turn someone in if you knew that it would lead to their torture and death? Would you risk getting involved? Do you think that people will tell us where the enemies are if they think they would be brought in for an interrogation.

Before the bush administration, people would have helped us. Now, they are afraid. This is the price for selling your soul to the Devil. And bush has already done it. He just wants America's blood on the dotted line.

4. I don't think he's trying to impress anyone...
He's trying to save himself from being prosecuted under international law.

If he can get Congress to legalize his activities, then they become the criminals. But I think he is mistaken, I think he will still be held accountable regardless of what Congress does. I think it will only mean he won't be alone in hell.
