14. Frankly I don't think that these gas prices will help Mo Republicans.

I live in a deep red county in Mid Missouri, and frankly most people are seeing through this deception for what it is. While we will take advantage of these prices, for instance I and many others I know are going to stock up on gas for next spring when prices bottom out, it isn't going to sway very many people. There is a decidedly anti-Bush, anti-Republican turn of sentiment in this state, and low low gas prices aren't going to make up for outrage over the Iraq war, high energy prices, state sponsored spying and many other issues.

However sometime during the last week of October, I'm going to fill and store thirty gallons of gas for next spring's mowing season. Might as well take advantage of Bushco's futile attempt to woo my vote.

7. Notice how the low prices are targetted toward GOP states?

I live in Oregon (eastern Oregon...not particularly the "Blue" part of oregon though) and the price of gas as of today is still at $2.89 per gallon. I find it interesting, when ever I see a map on the news of where the lowest prices are as of late, they are decidedly lower in "Red" states, than in "Blue" states. Anyone have a web-site that shows a map of the most recent gas prices and where they are the lowest?

10. On the coast too

I've been noticing that for a while with these gas reports, our prices have barely budged here in Florence. The prices are dropping in states with close elections, MO, PA, OH, VA. Iowa has a few close House elections. On the bright side, maybe they've decided not to fight Cantwell since prices are still high in Washington. It's really getting to be so obvious, I don't understand how people can't see it.

The oil companies have found the ultimate loophole. They can give the Pugs 40, 50 cents--hell, maybe even a dollar a gallon before it's all over--and not be subject to ANY controls. Is this a Great Country or what?

15. Wanna Bet It's Back Around $3 By Thanksgiving?

Give those poor oil companies a break. It's tough having to count all those profits...it takes time. They probably needed a few weeks to catch up the books.

It'd be interesting to see if the price drops are targeted. Missouri would be a very good barometer as would Tennessee and Virginia. It'd even more more telling if the prices drop big in New Jersey.

Also...methinks there's been a big scream from the business community...these oil prices are killing them and they'd like a break in the big 4th quarter.

Last week Missouri and Ohio had the lowest gas prices in the country. They both have hotly contested Senate races.

I have no doubt that they are handing out enticements to vote Repug. Without control of Congress the windfall profits may be harder to come by.
