Don't get too excited about this Republican "rift" over torture&detainees |

Something is not right with this whole GOP "feud". It seems fake, or like some kind of a setup, which will somehow end up being the mean ole liberals' fault, right around late October.
I smell a rat. A few Republicans in tough races are being "allowed" to jump off of the reservation for now to demonstrate their "independence" from the White House, but this Congress always gives this little spoiled brat everything he wants in the end. They may wait until after the election to do it, though.

5. Getting excited over nothing... |

Rumors swirling over War Crimes...accusing the Bush Adm of War Crimes.
Bush is demanding complicity from Congress, retroactively, that it was OK to torture and humiliate enemy combatants contrary to the Geneva Convention. Bush is insisting 3 US Senators agree with him, one of them being a returning POW, who in agreeing extreme forms of torture, were OK, will eventually bear the responsibility and probable prosecution by a World Court, similar to Nuremberg.
Their actions do not reflect jumping ship, more so, they reflect running out of a burning building.

...I don't think I'd like to witness your bedside manner. :)
The real worry is that they WILL give the lunatic king what he wants. When/why doesn't matter to me.

3. It is because if America lets these people rule by choice or fraud then... |

they deserve them. There is only so much WE can do. Everybody has to work to save this country and if they aren't willing to even pay attention then there is nothing we can do.

And it's not just the people who are letting this happen, it's Congress as well. Take a look at how many people are actually fighting this regime in Congress; a handful on both sides of the aisle. They probably represent the percentage of Americans who are fighting.
The odds are very bad. Or very good, if you like tyranny.

6. I agree, these steadfast republicans will crumble |

and McCain will be back to kissing dubby's ass. They all know that the BFEE will do bad things to them if they don't toe the line. McCain used to have a spine, I think, but when he knuckled under to dubby, it was all gone. As dubby says, a deal will be made. wink, wink, one that they can't refuse. :dem:
