"It's a Cruel Irony That Muslims React Violently"

I've heard these types of comments from several sources over the weekend. Yesterday on the evening news, an analyst cited the irony inherent in this situation.

Islam calls itself a religion of peace, and then when somebody talks negatively about the religion, the Muslims in the Middle East break out in violence. Firebombing churches, assassinating nuns, guns in the streets. Death threats and hate killings.

Why is that? When the Da Vinci Code which many Christians considered blasphemous because it maligned Jesus came out Christians didn't resort fo violence. When The Passion of the Christ came out some Jews were upset that it appears to be antisemitic, but they didn't resort to violence. When Buddhism or Hinduism is criticized they don't resort to violence.

What makes Islam so prone to violence?

If you think the Jews are justified in their reactions to terrorism because of the Holocaust and their history, why would you not think Muslims are also justified in their reactions after the Crusades, Inquisitions, the continuous pillaging of their lands, and the theft of Israel from them?

This country is called Christian by many politicians and we attack a country on false pretenses. We invade, bomb and destroy a country that had nothing to do with 9/11. I would call that resorting to violence, perhaps even hate killings. I guess it depends on who is creating the violence.
