18. Watch the trailer, really |
|
A wingnut preacher in Colorado Springs (wingnut central) has denounced it and started a campaign to keep it out of theaters.
The holy rollers are not happy about this one. It shows how they're bringing their children up to hate.

I turned off my ads (which I kept on and have clicked through on some) simply because that was the only thing showing - and I was sick of seeing it.
When it's gone, I'll gladly turn my ads back on and continue clicking through on ones that I'm interested in.

I haven't seen the movie, so I won't condemn it. To do so would be like all the Reps who complained about Fahrenheit 9-11 without seeing the movie.
(Besides, my understanding of the movie is that is does not endorse evangelicalism - it simply documents it. From what I know of them (through a "friend" who is one), just exposing the bare facts will turn off many viewers. IMO, they are out of touch and illogical and this film will expose them as such - there's no need for bias, the facts will spell it out pretty clearly.)

13. It's a Liberal Blogad |
|
Works the opposite of Adsense, you accept the ads before they run. Using Blogads enables an advertiser to target a bunch of sites at once, for a pretty reasonable price, all in all.
Still, I continue to be amazed that people get annoyed by these ads. I don't even pay attention to them. The only ad I can remember on DU from the last month is that huge shopzilla ad at the top of the page. Studies used to show that older people were the ones most influenced by these ads because they had come up in a time where advertising was useful - whereas younger people ignored them completely. From the amount of complaining at DU though, I'm not so sure that's true.

an expose of Crazy Ass "christians" who are becoming warriors for Christ.
I, for one am thrilled to support such a project -- the more who see this movie and find out about these nutjobs, the better.

12. It's a documentary film about the very scary indoctrination being |
|
received by a lot of today's youth at so-called Christian camps.
Looks to me like the film is worth seeing, and it would find a receptive audience among DUers.
