Fineman on Hardball: Bush benefits from world divisions |
|
I just heard Howard Fineman tell Chris Matthews that the Pope-Muslim controversy is good for Bush because (paraphrasing) "any division in the world, any clash of civilizations, is good news for the president." It reminded me of the fact that 9/11 saved Bush's foundering presidency and established him as Our Warrior Leader to millions of the easily duped.
I'm not sure I like this pattern. The more conflict in the world, the more death, the more danger, the better it all looks for the man in the White House. It almost seems like this would be an incentive for him to bring about more conflict, more death, and more danger.
And we wouldn't want that.

They haven't said a positive thing since Ike. Well, Goldwater, but he lost.

2. Human beings are regressing. |
|
I used to think that as time went on, as people began to figure out the mysteries of the universe and become technologically advanced, they would become more tolerant and compassionate. Guess I was wrong. It seems the trend is to condemn those who are different, be hateful, torture and kill. Unfortunately that man who calls himself President gets off on it and perpetuates it.

6. That is because most humans |
|
do not understand science
For that matter do not care for it
And what is worst, our schools don't teach it
We live in a world where warlocks and witches run again in the land, and were your computer and the electrical switch ARE magical, for most folks do NOT understand the first thing of how they work.
Do the experiment locally, and ask a kid, who should know better, what electricity is (Flow of electrons basically, at the most basic of levels)... or how a radio works... Trust me, it is scary... and I have not touched on the real bogeyman, EVOLUTION... or the real strange stuff, string physics...
At times I think Heinlein was right and we are destined to the rise of a new fundamentalist US.

and I'm ashamed of it.
Finneman, Charlie Cook and Matthews were talking about the Webb/Allen race....and seems like they aren't about to let go of the 27 year old statements by Webb on Women fighting in the armed forces.
Matthews was the fairest of the three...which can only leave you imagining that I felt like throwing up.
George Bush was snorting Coke 27 years ago and Allen has a "Noose" hanging in his office...but let's not go there. :eyes:
That's why I hate the media and understand how biased it is...cause they are aiding the Allen Camp in making this 27 years old issue a bigger issue than what it is....and attempting to mitigate the "macaca" issue.....as they did not go into the fact that Allen lied when he stated on MTP that he "made the word up"...(yeah, sure!)
They are constantly and sometimes slyly in the GOP corner....no matter how they try to appear "objective".
Far as they were concerned, Webb HAD the momentum, but now the 27 year old statement has him in trouble with Women voters (like Women voters would prefer Allen....a bigoted Bush ditto stamp who knows nothing about security...yeah...What-E-ver! :eyes: ) and Allen will most likely win (according to them) unless he makes another big mistake.
Than the went on the attempt to diminish Casey running against Santorium....although Casey is leading by 10 Points according to the latest polls...and likened Casey to Allen...that it is both of their race to lose. BUT, they leave out "minor" details like Allen is the Incumbent in his race...while Casey is not. That Casey really hasn't made a mistake and is a lot of points ahead from Santorium than Allen is to Webb.
I'm telling you...part of why Republicans have been in power for as long as they have is this fucked up media we have!

10. I'm suprised about Charlie Cook though. I am also suprised... |

that Tweety was being "fair".
Meanwhile some of our most prominant billionaires are backing Arnold for a second term instead of building a left-leaning echo chamber to counter the right wing echo chamber.
The world has gone to Hell since 9/11/2001.

12. Don't be surprised about anything....is my motto! |

Cook is not a liberal by any means. And certainly when he jabbers he's not giving any sage or sound political advice to Democrats. Ask him if Democrats have a plan....and that will tell you who Charlie Cook is (cause Democrats have plenty plans).

heed his warnings...even though I've not found Fineman credible in the past...he has a certain "cynical side" that often get's the truth of things out there.

This is just another case in point.
