GOP Senator Burns flies first class sticks wife in coach.
http://www.rawstory.com/news/2006/GOP_Senator_flies_first_class_wife_0914.html

While Republican Senator Conrad Burns flew first class, his wife was "stuck" in coach, a "salivating Democratic informant" told Roll Call.

"The informant sent the information with an accompanying nasty editorial note that said, 'Guess women really are second class to him," Roll Call's "Heard on the Hill" reports.

Last October, two Northwest Airlines flight attendants accused Burns of sexism after "he told one of the women she could stay at home and be a mother if she lost her job to outsourcing," Gannett News reported.

Roll Call reports that Burns denied sexism in both cases and suggests that the senator "wasn’t playing the big man card taking the first-class seat while making his little woman ride in the stuffy coach seat."

1. If I tried to pull a stunt like that on my wife...
...she'd be in first-class and I'd be hanging onto the wing.

2. My only question is
who paid for his upgrade to first class?

8. The taxpayer probably footed the bill for both of them...
...to go first-class, but he downgraded her and pocketed the cash. It's the Republican way: even family is just another source of income.

6. Where do we find these people?
I mean seriously, do you have to be the biggest asshole on the planet to be a Republican senator? Are they grown on trees?

9. A "salivating Democratic informant"?
Uh huh. Yeah, Roll Call. I know that when I have a juicy tidbit about Republican corruption or misconduct, I'm salivating all the hell over the place. Oh, and I call Roll Call for the widest possible airing. Right.

Considering the appalling level of Republican corruption, I haven't swallowed in more than five years.

11. Check photo: his wife is about a size 24/250 lbs. -She needed 1st class
space. The article says she had the roomiest seat in coach - in the exit aisle. Well you're not supposed to sit in the exit aisle unless you're in good enough shape to open the emergency exit panel, and get yourself out of the way of others fast. This woman would have trouble fitting through the emergency opening at all. And no, I'm not hostile to people who are overweight - I'm one myself, and I have friends who are as big as her - that's how I know her weight is around 250. She had to be totally uncomfortable in coach, as must have been the people sitting next to her. Lots of people work with their laptops in coach, and Burns could have done so.

14. I saw Magic Johnson pull this stunt
at Logan airport. It was during the 80's when the Celtics and the Lakers were in the finals every year. After the series was over I happened to be taking my sister to the airport so she could go home to California. In the lounge area the Lakers were all milling around and Magic was there with Cookie, then his girlfriend. They boarded the team in first class and then the rest of the people went to coach. I saw Magic kiss Cookie goodbye, but just to be sure I asked my sister if the girlfriends were really stuck in the steerage section and indeed they were.
I thought it was rude.

15. Look, Magic couldn't FIT in the coach class seats
and the team is supposed to ride together. That's a bit different.

attendants? Was he trying to hit on them? Is that why he sent Mrs. Sen to the back of the bus?
