Senate races looking better for Dems, and 19% "strongly approve" of shrub.

Today, 41% of American adults approve of the way that President Bush is performing his job and 58% disapprove. That's about where the numbers were before the President’s 9/11 speech.

Overall, only 19% of Americans Strongly Approve and 42% Strongly Disapprove.

Rhode Island, Ohio and Montana each shifted from Toss-Up to "Leans Democrat" today on our Senate Balance of Power summary. Our summary now shows 49 seats in the Republican column, 48 for the Democrats, and three Toss-Up races. (see State-by-State Summary).

6. Thanks for the link! I had assumed Rasmussen charged $$ for the

state by state until I clicked through to http://www.rasmussenreports.com/2006/senateBalanceofPower.htm . Three things caught my eye:

--There are eight "leaners" and only one of them is now Republican--Allen-Webb.

--The three tossups are Frist(TN)--no hope there; Talent(MO)--dirty tricks guru; and Menendez-Kean(NJ) (mudfight with serious vulnerabilities for both).

--The two-thirds of seats not up for re-election this year splits 40-27 Republican. So even a blow-out for Democrats has a limited upside.
