Why do we as a party struggle with so much self hate?
Look at the Republicans, who seem to be almost physiologically incapable of criticizing their leaders, once they are in power.

And then look at us -- we had a great run of years with Clinton, but we post comments here about his "sociopathic tendencies." We accuse Hillary of being a warmonger, Cantwell and Feinstein of being Dino's, etc. etc.

I read Tasini's self-serving post-primary-loss comments. And all I could think was: he's a sore loser. And he's willing to hurt the party to satisfy his own ego.

When are we ever going to be able to work together to defeat the real enemy? Will it be this November? Or is our own perfectionism going to be what defeats us yet again?

1. I don't know about you, but I'd rather be in a party I'm free to
criticize than be in a party that brainwashes me into submission.

4. That's true, but the repubs win because they speak with one voice,
and alot of people respond to that, no matter what that voice is saying. Hitler (i know, i know) won because he fostered disagreement and disunity among his opposition. Believe me, the repubs know how its done, and (just like Mr. H) they terrorize their own into submission. Mr. H had many huge failures throughout the 20's, but was always able to frame them as victories, because his supporters said they were, over and over and over. Just another thing the repubs are very good at.

2. Because our party is not the party it should be
Too many people are voting for Dems to keep the Rethugs out of power.

Even Dems like Lieberman and Cantwell who supported the immoral War in Iraq.

8. Cantwell is nothing like Lieberman.
Check out her record. As a freshman Senator in her first few months of office, she followed the urgings of the Democratic leadership (and the example of many other Democrats) and voted to give Bush his authorization UNDER CONDITIONS which he then ignored.

Why is it that you rarely hear any of those male Democratic "authorizers" referred to as warmongers? (Except for Lieberman.) Could it because Cantwell, Hillary Clinton, and Feinstein are women, so held to a higher standard?

Cantwell is one of the more progressive Democrats in the Senate, despite representing a swing state -- almost evenly split between blues and reds. People should be looking at the totality of her record rather than on one or two votes or issues.

Welcome to DU, BeautifulLoser.

(But as a party, I'd rather we be UglyWinners.)

3. Checks and balances.
We need to be that but some want to compromise with people that run them over.

9. I'm not talking assessment. I'm talking about gratuitous and
unfair attacks, like saying Clinton is a sociopath because he had an affair and tried to cover it up.

6. Because big D Democrats are little d democrats!
I don't buy into the entire 'Democratic Party Civil War' that so many in the corporate press, the Republicans and the DLC love to extoll.

It is a pendulum swing to the left and to the people, not by the self-anointed "leaders".

Remember that democrat is based on the roots of demos, the people, and crat, to rule.
