CT-SEN: New Poll: Lieberman-Lamont Race A Dead Heat
Edited on Tue Sep-19-06 11:22 AM by longship
The following is from TPMCafe:

Joe Lieberman's lead over Ned Lamont has dwindled to two points, a new Rasmussen poll released today has found. It shows Lieberman ahead of Lamont 45%-43%. Previous polls have shown larger spreads, with a SurveyUSA poll on Sept. 12 showing Lieberman up 51%-38%, and a Wall Street Journal/Zogby one on Sept. 11 showing Lieberman ahead 46%-42%. More Rasmussen numbers after the jump.

From Rasmussen:
Around a third of GOP voters, conservatives, unaffiliated voters and moderates view Lieberman "very favorably." Lamont gets a "very favorable" response from 38% of Democrats, and 36% of liberals, but isn't as strongly liked by other voters.

The economy is the top issue for a plurality of 25% of likely voters; in August 37% ranked it number one. Twenty-four percent (24%) say Iraq is their top issue, 21% say national security. The proportion who say Iraq is their top issue is highest among liberals (40%) and Democrats (33%)...

Only on national security do voters divide their trust somewhat evenly between the parties, with 43% trusting the GOP more, 44% trusting the Democrats more.

1. When Big Dawg and Hill go up there to campaign for Lamont,
and do robo calls for Lamont, it will tip the scales in Lamont's favor. Bill and Hill still have sway with black voters and should impact their vote substantially. Likely, most of those voters still think Bill and Hill support LIEberman which is why he has a slight lead. That will change.

15. Why should they do robo-calls?
Between the two of them, they should be able to call all 35 black voters in CT, no problem. :P

5. Wow! Rasmussen usually tends to lean to the right.
So if their polling numbers show an increase in support for Lamont, it's probably getting a whole lot bigger!

9. I agree. He gives Dems solid leads for Senate in Montana,
PA, OH, RI and a dead heat in MO.

6. Be careful with watching Polls this year; might be gamed
see these threads where CN had criminal pleas by pollsters.

This regarding the Bush-Lieberman pollsters

This seems to be big!!

As one poster states, it is easier to steal elections if the polls are altered.

It was the difference between the pre-election polls and the exit polls which first showed election thefts. So, what happens if the polls are rigged. IMHO, there are some fairly flaky numbers floating on the Senate races.

This first thread below is about Lieberman-Lamont. The next one is about the Menendez-Tom Kean, Jr. The poll asscoxciated with the thread is courtesy of a Dominionist Christian polling firm. The same stripe of folks who brought you "Jesus Camp", the movie!!

12. They don't rotate this order from precinct to precinct?
They do that here in Ohio...you do not stay in the same place on the ballot...sometimes you are listed first, sometimes second..depends on how many are on the ballot for your particular race.

Same with with Yes/No issues.

13. Lieberman will lose, but that does not necessarily mean he will leave
If the voting "irregularities" pop up again, who know?..he could be decalred the winner...or barring that, he will just become a lobbyist for bigger bucks than he makes now, and he will wander the halls of congress making "deals" with his old cronies..

Joe will not retreat quietly into the sunset..
