Showing respect to the office... |
|
One thing I keep hearing from the right and left is that we need to show respect to the office or title of President. In my opinion, respect is something you earn, not something that is bestowed--like a title. This arrogant little man has not earned respect, any more than he ever really paid the dues to earn the office. He had a legacy appointment from the Republic Party, with all the hard work having been done by his father before him.
I don't care who is given the titl of "president." The need to earn both the title and respect in the office by doing the hard work of governance.

people some respect. I'm sick and tired of being treated like I'm an idiot and I paraphrase -
"It's like this you see, you have to keep repeating these things over and over for the American people to understand..."
Yeah, I understand you alright, you want to take away my freedoms and have me smiling while you do it.

4. I DO Show Respect For The Office & Title |
|
I always refer to President Jimmy Carter, President George Herbert Walker Bush, President Bill Clinton, and President Al Gore, the only presidents legally elected since Appointed Temporary President Ford left office - and when we have another legally elected president I will refer to him with the same respect & deference.

Acceded to the presidency through treason (negotiating with Iran to sell them arms & replacement parts if they wouldn't release the 52 hostages before the election - come to think of it, G.H.W. Bush was the one who flew to Paris to seal the deal - so maybe I shouldn't count him either.)

respect for a so-called "President" and "Vice-President" who stole the office from the voters.
And I don't remember them being upset when a multi-million $$ 8-year witch hunt was launched against PRESIDENT William Jefferson Clinton because some folks didn't like the fact he got elected.

The best why to show respect for the office is to throw Bush and Cheney out of it.

11. Presidents are politicians |
|
You don't deserve special respect for being a politican. You deserve it (or not) for your actions.
I have a lot of respect for Jimmy Carter, but not for Bush. I have a lot of respect for the memories of Churchill and Attlee, but not for Thatcher or Blair. I have a lot of respect for many political leaders who never held a formal office, such as the suffragettes, the civil rights leaders, and the early trade unionists. I respect our local schoolchildren who took to the streets to demonstrate as soon as the Iraq war was declared. I don't respect our so-called 'Socialist' government who rolled over like poodles.
I don't think that the UK or most Europaean countries have this idea that you respect a leader just because (s)he is a leader. To be honest, I regard such an attitude as a little too close to fascism/ totalitarianism for comfort.

Acting like a little punk all the time...an ARROGANT little punk...is no way to maintain respect. I really get a kick out of the repukes and their "the adults are in charge." Adults use language like those shitheads always do? Get drunk and go hunting? Sneer at reporters?
Never mind the little fucks they hire as personal minions. You know, the kind who bilk Target out of money in fake returns and all the other shit they do.
God, I hate those scumbunnies.

the smarmy little twerp that got himself appointed to the office. He's not my president. He's a thief and a liar and a warmongering freak of nature, but he's not the president.
