Remind them that the war on terror will still be going on one day soon when a DEMOCRAT will be president, and that he OR SHE will have the same authority to spy on whoever he or SHE wants to with no judicial oversight.

That'll snap 'em out of it.

Either that or they find a way to declare the "war" over as soon as a Democrat is elected.

Someone pointed this out either here on DU or on a radio show I listen to (I only listen to Stephanie Miller, Majority Report and Mike Malloy and every once in a while Randi archives) and someone said they asked their pro-spying friend(s) if they'd like President Hillary Clinton spying on them. That one works pretty good too.
