Yeah, that Q&A was TOTALLY not pre-screened or scripted!!!
A run down of questions:

1. Question about Beef Trade agreements with Japan, from a former president of some KS Beef board.

2. Does the US plan to play a larger role in Sudan, from a student who sounded like he was the student body president. New Term! “Jinja-weed”

3. What is your long term strategy for China and Iran, from a retired military person.

4. Over enthusiastic Iraqi Kurd woman who didn’t have a question, just praise and thanks and thinks everyone should stop questioning the administration for its decision to invade Iraq. For about 15 seconds, Bush played the Dr. Evil “zip it” game with her, trying to get her to shut up.

5. Brit with a question about the Bush/Blair relationship. Tidbit: they talk every week, or try to.

6. Male Student Republican: how do you prepare yourself for attacks on your character? A: faith, family, friends, and exercise.

7. Desert Storm vet and big Bush fan: How does Alito’s confirmation stand? New pronunciation: LejislaTORS

8. Female Student Republican: it was an honor to cast my first vote for you…what are your plans for keeping Social Security viable, and what can young people do to prepare? A: Social Security won’t be viable, start saving now. Seriously, not a bad answer.

9. Sophomore female student: $12.7 billion was cut from education (student loan program), how does that help education? A: Uh, let me get back to you on that. Then something about making the program more efficient.

10. Female Student Republican: I’m a big admirer of your wife, how does she contribute to your presidency? A: included the story of him crashing the car in the garage door when she criticized him, and ended with ‘I love her a lot’. Awwwwwwww.

11. Male Student: Have you seen Brokeback Mountain? It’s great, you should see it! A: haven’t seen it. Much awkward silence.

12. Foreign Student: America has 3000 nuclear weapons, when will these WMDs be destroyed? A: Basically, there wasn’t an answer.

13. Hispanic (South American) Female student/faculty member: What are you doing about America’s borders, what are you doing to provide Hispanics who are here legally with good opportunities, or Hispanics who are here illegally with opportunities to legally join the society? A: I forget, something about immigration, borders, blah, blah, blah.

1. Hey -- are you calling AuthorizedPropaganda a liar?
Bush to take unscripted audience questions

By NEDRA PICKLER Associated Press Writer
The Associated PressThe Associated Press

WASHINGTON Jan 23, 2006 — Move over, Oprah. President Bush is making himself into television's newest talk show host by making audience participation a feature of his appearances.

Bush has been taking questions from audience members in recent speeches, and the White House says none has been prescreened. It's a throwback to the folksy style on the campaign trail that helped him win re-election and a departure from the heavily scripted speeches that were the norm last year.

Why yes. Yes I am.

Kind of. I'm just amazed that we've reached a point in which this is newsworthy.

5. I know, OMG, it makes me a little hysterical.
"Watch him stand up and talk, ladies and gents, only here and now, come one, come all, the amazing talking pResident!"

I'm old enough to remember Kennedy kidding and sparing with reporters.

7. That was my thought. What does it say about him when they make
a big deal about him answering unscripted questions. The media is really doing their job, huh.

On edit: And, that's not to cast aspersions on fashion or gossip columns. But, that isn't what she's paid to do. Wait -- that IS what she is paid to do when she reports on Monkey Boy.

9. I loved it when
he claimed that employers who hire illegal immigrants DON'T KNOW they're illegal. Right. No mention of the fact that paying a living wage and protecting worker safety and health would make these jobs attractive to American citizens.

It's just that those poor employers are being hoodwinked by illegal workers who somehow get legal-looking documents.

I hate this man.

13. EVERY job I've had in the last 20-25 years required 'right to work' docs.
I've been required to produce 'legal' proof of my right to work in th U.S. every time ... a passport is what I typically provided.

It's fucking INSANE to say employers don't know. We've got employers requiring piss tests for drugs and blood tests for tobacco and they don't know whether the person is legally in the country?? BULLSHIT!!

:grr: :grr: :grr: :grr:

21. Those Poor poor employers. They are being taken advantage of.
The answer didn't make any sense either.
The illegals are getting forged documents because there are people out there who make a living forging documents. We are going to give out a card to those who are legal to work here. Won't the old forged documents still be useful? Won't the cards be forged by those who make a living forging documents?
Is the card really the answer?
