I love Randi R. BUT...she needs Ritalin
Howard Dean just let out a great line: "There still are good Republicans now, they just don't vote Republican anymore." and she didn't understand him and totally walked all over his line and went off on a tirade about how evil the Republicans are.

I wish she could just pull it together a little when Dean is on the phone and lead Dean take the lead.

1. I love her but she seems to do this frequently with guests
She really needs to just let the guests take the spotlight when she has them on -- very irritating.

3. I like Randi's heart and position but I cannot listen to her.
She drives me nuts with her rants which, as you point out, can sometimes be based on misinterpretation (or the fact that she isn't listening).

Though I enjoy listening to Mike Malloy's rants for some reason.

23. Same here. Mike has shown respect for his guests.
Randi uses guests as a prop. Although I tend to agree with her 95% of the time, and believe her to be both sincere and intelligent, she needs to learn how to let people like Howard Dean speak uninterrupted.

Mike Malloy on the other hand couldnt be more generous with his guests. Thats also why Mike is the only AAR host that I listen to religously.

5. I haven't listened to Randi in a long while, but tuned in when I saw here
that Dr. Dean was going to be on.

I sure wish we'd heard a little more Dean and a little less Randi.

8. Randi's Rants
Edited on Mon Jan-23-06 05:51 PM by annarbor
Actually turned me off to the point where I can't stand to listen to her anymore. Mike Malloy is the greatest thing to hit AA's airwaves. I've lost so much sleep staying up to listen to him on my XM that I walk around like a zombie at work now. I also dig Majority Report and Thom Hartmann. Randi just comes off too harsh towards her callers...(the nice ones!)

out there stuff. BTW, I love both of their rants.

11. Mike is harsh to right wingers.
Randi can be harsh to people who agree with her if they don't agree with her for the right reasons.

I love Randi, don't get me wrong but she seems like she has impulse control issues. She'd be a better host if she could manage them better.

12. Randi's job is to be well informed.
Howard's Job is to rebuild our party.

Randi has 5 hours a day to read anything and everything.

I'd expect Randi to be better informed.

I'm starting to turn her off.

I wish it wasn't the case but she spoke all over Scott Ridder the last time he called too....

19. Yup,
she's her greatest fan. The purpose of a call in talk show is to actually let people call in and 'talk'. I don't listen to her anymore. Can't she babbles like she's on speed.

Malloy insists on using that "W" in Bush's name repeatedly. That just infuriates me. Saying George "W" Bush just gives that asshole a distinction like Lord Polmelroy the II.

Is there anybody in the world who doesn't know which Bush is president? He ought to call the asshole junior and act like he has to vomit every time he even says that. I stopped listening to him too.

16. Thats what she does
Al does it more, he limits Congressmen to one segment and lets his weekly guests have 3 segments.... I hate it most when they've go the Honorable Congressman Conyers on and talk all over him.

But when she doesn't have guests to talk over, she's got some good well-informed rants.....

Rachel is a better interviewer. But Randi has quite an ego, she has been building this career for ages, thats why she feels that way.

But I'll still listen to her, cause its worth it.

25. Randi's research credentials are in a league Hanity can't invision.
She is in a class of comentator that seems to be completely absent in the RW corporate media.
Facts and entertainment that stands up to scrutany. Al Frankin debunks Hanity, Limpall, O'Liely on a daily basis...no one seems to cut into Randi with any authoritative critique.
imo

24. HEY! Respect R.R., for NOT cow-towing to ANYONE! She is free, white & 21
And If you don't like her tone or demeanor...find someone else to listen to.
Like Amy Goodman, or Sonali Kohatkar (Pacifica Radio), who are more contrite but equally informative and up on the demoniacs...
What we have here, is a failure to communicat. AAR is not for NPR type polite politically correct milk toast liberals...AAR is for left wing and charismatic activists.
YOU milk toast type can go be polite, and when Randi and Howie are talking...it's a concert of equals...that's right middle of the roaders...EQUALS!
If Dean represented quiet conservative DEMS, and he didn't get the SHAFT in 2004, and he was a WIMP, then Randi would treat him with kid gloves. MIX IT UP, get our blood flowing...RANDI!

27. And what the fuck does free WHITE and 21 mean
if she was free BLACK and 21 what would the rest of your post be

Randi is obnoxiously in love with herself - I listen to lots of talk show hosts and it is not her rants that annoy me - its her self importance - listen carefully sometime and take note of how many times she says I or me - today she freaking said we had 40 senators supporting the filibuster - and when she came back from the break she had to take that back because she didn't have a freaking clue as to what the hell she was talking about and then she said she talked to Senator Durbin last week who said there wasn't a chance in hell to filibuster and now and I paraphrase her because of her we have a chance to filibuster.

So I think Randi is very smart, I think she has a lot of good research - but by the way she is not always right in what she says - I like her rants - but I hate the way she over talks guests to hear herself talk and I hate how she thinks she is the be all and end all to Democratic politics - another good example is listen to her story on FL 2000 - you'd think she was the ONLY one who had a clue that the election was stolen....

28. WHAT??? Randi self-corrected her mis-representation? what's wrong with tha
t. Randi's audience is growing, not shrinking. She's worth listening to for those of us who care about factually correct spin, and we're able to parse the hyperbole and infotainment. If your're bemused or entertained, as you yourself say, just enjoy and learn as many have, that it's not your show and enjoyment is subjective. FB&21 works for others...not Randi in this case. Margaret Prescott, on her Sojourner Truth program (pacifica radio), for example?

I know everyone here at DU just thinks the sun rises and sets out of her ass, but I just can't listen to her. She gets on my nerves. I don't understand how she got a radio show.
