The Clinton Global Initiative gives me hope for the world.

It's worth visiting the website and watching the short nine-minute video. If only the U.N worked more like this...people coming together from all backgrouunds and political persuasions for the common good and future of the planet. It's not about partisan politics, it's about practical solutions. It's also something we can be proud was started by a DEMOCRATIC president, by a party that believes in the inherent worth of all human beings, and talking with those we may disagree with on some issues to find practical solutions to global problems. It makes me proud to be a Democrat, and party of a party who's "big dog" is a man who brings people together instead of tearing them apart.

Take a few moments to watch the video (it has one of my favorite U2 songs at the end with a streaming list of all their projects and commitments) and you'll come away feeling better about the world.

1. Ex-President Carter
And remember that President Carter started the Habitat for Humanity. Haven't seen anything - anything at all an ex republican president has done. Oh oh except bush daddy (bush Jr's clean up guy) bought into the Caryle Group, that goes around the world buying up things for monetary profit...for bush Sr and his family.

3. Carter did not start Habitat for Humanity. It was founded in 1976 by
by Millard and Linda Fuller.

4. Richard Branson (Virgin Airline and Train Businesses)
I read in our local paper today (Oregonian) that after a visit with Al Gore, Mr. Branson will be investing $3 billion into alternative fuel research to fight global warming. Not all persons with significant resources are Bushistas. Thank you Mr. Branson.

5. 100% of Virgin profits for 10 years.
The $3 billion is an estimate. This is from the CGI website.

:wow:

Maybe we should consider switching to Virgin Mobile for cell phone service to boost the profits donated....
