US general warns of unfriendly forces brewing in Latin America
Fri Sep 22, 3:28 PM ET

WASHINGTON (AFP) - The US military's top general warned that forces unfriendly to the United States are brewing in the Americas, arguing that "together we need to do something about it."

General Peter Pace, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, singled out Venezuela's President Hugo Chavez who this week attacked President George W. Bush as the "devil" in a speech to the UN General Assembly.

"There have been increases in government actions that are not friendly to us," Pace said in a question-and-answer session with Pentagon employees. "President Chavez is clearly not a friend to the United States."

...............................................................

"But we need to be alert to the fact that there are forces brewing right now that are not friendly to the United States and not friendly to other freedom-loving countries in this hemisphere. And together we need to do something about it," he said.

Why doesn't he quit acting like he alone owns the world and will control it by himself?

6. Headline...
"US General States the Obvious"

General Peter Pace stated the obvious today with respect to anti-US attitudes in Latin America.

"Apparently, when you assassinate popularly elected leaders and stage coup attempts in a region, this breeds a feeling of resentment towards those causing the trouble" said the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff today.

General Pace concluded that it may require a "massive military response" to solve these problems.

Someone calls Bush a name and now they're going to "do something about it?"
That's right ... let's bomb them into oblivion because Bush got insulted! :sarcasm:

How many times has Bush insulted other world leaders and entire nations? He branded three countries - who didn't attack us - as an "Axis of Evil." That's not offensive? "Old Europe" wasn't insulting? "Freedom Fries" wasn't insulting? "You're either with us or with the terrorists" wasn't offensive?

We've got a bunch of f*cking four-year-olds running this country! :grr:

10. Unfriendly forces? I think they are more self defense in nature. They
all know we have a trigger happy cowboy in the WH who thinks their oil resources belong to him. They are doing exactly what other areas of the world are doing. Forming regional alliances to protect themselves against the effects of globalization and our greed. I really hurts to have to say those things but unfortunately they are true.

11. Gen. Pace is so correct: Caracas is only a 2 day drive to Houston!
No, wait, that was Nicaragua...and it was El Paso... When the mighty Sandanista Army was headed back in the Pre-Depends Reagan Days...

What possible country other than a combination of Argentina and Brazil and Mexico could possibly be a threat to the United States?

That is the most ridiculous thing I've ever read -- well, lately...

Does Gen. Pace mean that the US Ambassador isn't the de facto second in command of our southern neighbors' armies any longer?

The mighty Cuban Navy is preparing for an amphibious landing of Key Largo as we speak, supported by the "illegals" whom Hugo is secretly paying while they masquerade as poverty-striken peasants trying to earn some extra dollars before going back to Central America with a new pair of boots and a few hundred dollars for their families.

Generals need to general and diplomats need to diplomat, and the twain should not meet, save upon retirement and then when running for President or saving up 8 years of frustration at the neocon agenda.

12. Good Fucking God (major "F" bomb exposion within)
Bush can criticize Chavez, call him a tin horn dictator, attempt coups in his country...and then scream and cry and run to his mommy when Chavez calls him the devil.
Boo Fucking Hoo.
These fuckers are acting like we have an international crisis because Hugo called Georgie a name.
Grow the fuck up!

13. President Chavez is clearly not a friend to the imperialistic powers
...which run the United States, but he is a friend to the common people of the United States. The job of a professional military to to find enemies and to protect us from being harmed by those enemies. If no real enemies can be found, then the professional military establishment must create enemies to justify and perpetuate itself. War is a racket.
