Barbra Walter's "But I love Jon Stewart."
She was replying to Bill O'Rielly saying Stewarts' fans were a bunch of stoned college kids. I don't think she cared much for Bill.

1. The Daily Show debunked that long ago
viewers of the Daily Show were much more likely than OhReally's viewers to not only hold college degrees, but to hold postgraduate degrees

4. I'm a marketing major
In one class I had we did a comparison between the demographics of Fox vs. CNN. Fox viewers were lower income and less educated, which is why CNN is more desirable to advertisers despite Fox's higher ratings. The difference is obvious when you contrast the type of advertising on Fox to that of CNN.

I think a similar thing comes into play with Comedy Central. The satire of Stewart and Colbert goes way over the heads of O'Reilly's audience. Not quite the same demo and situation as CNN because they tend to be younger but they are savvy and informed. Falafel Boy and his followers are being mocked and they can't stand it. But they aren't smart enough to counter it so they resort to name-calling.

12. You could have the top ratings in the wrong demographic
or I should say a less desired demographic but tank in the important ones and it wouldn't matter a bit to your core advertisers. They'll go with the shows they think will hit the people they are selling to.

I've bookmarked this thread simply on the strength of your post and marketing analysis of Pox "news" viewership versus CNN and others. I think it's something we need to keep in mind, as far as who's buying that shit they sell over at Pox and what their mentality is/where they're coming from.

VERY useful info. Cheers to thecatburgler!

Further documenting this, 'cause I'm puttin' it in my journal so it's easier to find later.

7. Oprah and her friend Gail visited Stewart at home.
They didn't show the actual visit, but they talked about it. Apparently, Jon Stewart is one of the most genuine and humble person Oprah knows.

10. I don't really remember. Oprah really liked him though.
And he was very funny, though he seemed kind of embarassed. But I watched it a while ago, so don't remember the specifics.

14. I'm a Grad Student
Well, going back to get my Master's after almost 20 years, while working a full-time job and trying to take care of a house, a husband, and two cats. I'm definitely not stoned, although sometimes I do take a drink. And I love Jon Stewart!
